I have spent a lot of time on the reservation system over the past 2 months (late trip planning) trying to piece together a trip at the end of June/beginning of July without having to change rooms more than once. My kids wanted to stay at BCV or BWV so that made it even more challenging. Each time a 2br garden/pool view opened up for 1 or 2 days at BWV, I booked another reservation. I was even able to snag July 4 as late as yesterday! I had 6 different reservations by the time I had all of my vacation days. I called MS and got someone very experienced who was able to work with the hotel and systems to turn the 6 reservations into only 1 reservation with 1 reservation number. I won't have to change rooms or get new keys for linked reservations! Someone must have sprinkled pixie dust on me yesterday!

I was able to get the same thing for our BLT trip in July. I'd originally booked Sunday through Saturday on BLT points at 11 months. I had the first and last Saturday nights booked as Member Service cash reservations with the DVC discount, because I didn't have enough home resort points for the whole stay. I was perfectly willing to take the risk of having to leave those nights as cash, but was hoping to find availability on points at the 7-month point. Turns out I got lucky. The two bedroom theme park view room was available for both nights when their respective 7-month booking windows opened. I booked those nights individually online and then cancelled the cash reservations. (Note, points nights were available in the system for those nights at 7 months. I didn't "convert" the cash room to a points room, which can't be done. I booked new and cancelled.)

I had three reservation numbers for the stay. We're doing the DDP this trip, so I called MS asking if there was a way to link or combine the reservations so the DDP could be used on all days. The first two CM told me no, the reservations couldn't be combined. I was persistent. The third CM put me on hold for a long time, and then it was done! One reservation number.

Such good news. I am in the middle of Aulani "heck" right now trying to piece together a stay over Christmas and New Years.

I'm hopeful to have some similar luck. Though, without the 7 month resort switching that happens at WDW, I think I'm banking on cancelations...

Good luck! Some people book ahead hoping they'll get low airfares or a family gathering. Maybe some will cancel in time for you to book your trip! I'm sending pixie dust your way!
