We went to the world for our first and only trip 5 years ago. I have always wanted to return, however, DH has his favorite vacation spot (which I dearly love too) so I figured I would never get to go back. In the mean time I have lived vicariously through the lives of DISERS on this board.
First, I will introduce the cast:
ME (46): I LOVE Disney. I dream of going back someday. Thanks to "the rock" (this will make sense later) I am going in 18 days!! I am a SAHM that works at home running DH's business. This gives me plenty of time to be an obsessive planner.
DH (46): He LOVES Mackinac Island. He can live without Disney. He just does not get it. He MUST spend 2 weeks every summer on Mackinac Island. This leaves no money for WDW. He works very hard, so he always wins.
DS (19): He is living at college. He is a sophmore, desparately trying to get through his pre-med courses. He had fun at Disney five years ago, but is more interested in the girlfriend now.
DS (16): This one is a very talented musician, dancer, singer, actor. He could easily work at WDW. He is more concerned with his social life then anything else.
DD (10): The baby of the family. Now, she is like her Mommy. She loves WDW even though she does not really remember her trip there five years ago. She is an equestrian ~ loves to jump her horse.
All together now!:
I must go back to the trip to Mackinac this summer. This is where it all began. We decided to spend the fourth of July on the Island. DD has NEVER seen an actual fireworks display. We had heard tht you can see fireworks from 4 cities from the Island. I planned our trip during this time just so DD could see the fireworks. DD is sooooo excited. She is counting the days. We have an amazing week and it is finally the fourth. We have a great day picnicing with friends..........
.......... and then we headed out to the shore for the show. We find a place to watch on the shore directly in front of the barge that sets them off. The mackinac bridge is in the background. DD is in heaven
And then........it happens..........

With shakey hands she removes them. DR #2 decided she would take over. Finally! She puts the needle in and DD screams. The pain medication had worn off. DH said, Can I talk to you outside my daughter needs a break. Emily can hear the fireworks and starts to cry because this is what she is here for. DH had a word with the ladies about DD's care. They return and DR#2 asks #1 resident how much lidocain has she had and resident said " I don't know" WHAT!!!!???? DD is traumatized already. It took 2 hours to sew her up. She also has a concussion.
