While its true for most of us, it all started with a Mouse. This time for me, it started with a lie. Just a little lie. Ok a little lie that kind of grew arms and legs and all sorts of appendages.
It started back in September . I was just coming off of my Disney high from our big August trip when I learned a dear friend, Sharkb8 would be in WDW during January cheering on her DH for Marathon Weekend. Then I found out my other dear friend PrincessV would be heading over to hang with SharkB8 for the weekend. And much like Dr. Nigel said, One little spark of inspiration .. I jumped online and hit up the travel website to start searching for cheap airfare, cause really that was the deal breaker.
I sat for days, hoping, waiting, praying that something would come through and then I could plan my attack, stalk my prey and pounce! Well, the stars aligned and airfare dropped so low, it would have been sacrilege to pass it up. But wait, I hadnt even discussed the trip with DH. I knew if I waited, we would lose the great deal. What to do, what to do???? I made an executive descision and pushed the button. Something I couldnt believe Id actually done. Would DH be able to get the time off? Would he kill me if he couldnt? Would he kill me anyway? Oh, and what will he say when I tell him Im planning an adults only trip? And that I already cleared it with my parents to watch our 2 kids. I needed to come up with a great story. A gigantic carrot to place in front of his face . A big, little lie.
And I had to do it quick like! The trip was a little more than 90 days away I had to think fast.
And so I did. I came up with a little white lie that I knew hed never find out because the only people who would know about it are YOU! Bwuahahahahaha!!!!
So, DH comes home from work and I pounce. I went into all kinds of detail, saying the SharkB8 and PrincessV families would be there and so would our other dear friends the Mominators, whom weve all vacation 3 years in a row together. Since I know he loves our dear DIS friends as much as I do, it was easy to convince him we needed this trip, no we deserved this trip. He even went so far as to call it our belated Anniversary trip!
Whew! Now that I dodged that bullet, let the planning begin!

And now some intros!
First up, our lovely children, Maddie and Evan, who we happen to be ditching this weekend. Hehehe. Poor little things, think were going to Georgia to visit friends. Yeah, another little lie.
Thats DH, Andy and me, Tracy. We live in Sothern California, just a stones throw from Disneyland. Yeah, were pretty much Disney Nerds, sort of. We dont belong to D23 or anything.
And here are a my parents, Waldo and TE, who will be caring for our little offspring. Yes, I regret to inform you Waldo will not be starring in this trip report.
So once I got the
from Andy, I went ahead and started the planning process. We had enough points left to book a studio for the weekend, but sadly there was no room at the inn. It was only mid-October and all the DVC studios were completely sold out! I jumped on the WDW website and found a v
v
v
.value resort available for Friday and we could use points at Saratoga Springs for Saturday and Sunday. My choices were ASMusic and POP! Oh gawd! It was punishment, wasnt it? For the little lie(s)?
I went ahead and booked POP! Ugh.
Ok, I know some of you like, even love POP! And hey, thats ok with me. In fact, some of my very dear friends love to stay at the POP! And these are the friends who know darned well I am in fact a resort snob. :snotty: Its not really my fault, though. Our first trip to WDW we went in all out. We stayed at the Polynesian for 5 glorious nights, where we had poems lovingly placed on our pillow, along with room services and booze to-go. It was heavenly.
On our second trip, we stayed at POFQ and our 3rd trip Saratoga Springs And thats when I learned, theres a HUGE difference between a DELUXE resort and a MODERATE resort. A HUGE DIFFERENCE. Thus a Disney resort snob was born. Oh, and a DVC owner, too!
With our hotel room booked, our flights booked, all that was left was to re-book our hotel reservations. I happened to stumble upon a great AP price for a room at the Beach Club, so naturally I canceled POP! And switched over to Beach Club. Whew! Crisis averted. I think there may have even been a pool amongst my DIS friends to see if I would actually stay at POP!
Our final itinerary was complete and we booked a few dining reservations, one for Bistro de Paris and one for Grand Floridian Café, with our friends.
UP NEXT: Bring on the Fudgcicles and don't blow it!
