It’s crazy here!!!

I don't know anyone with covid. Not a single person.
That was me for most of this pandemic. And then my sisters and their families and I and my best friend ALL got covid in the last month. And several of my cousins and their kids. Not to mention numerous other local friends.

I don't know why it happens, but it's common. I think, though, it happens immediately. Like, you will feel better for a few days and then suddenly backslide and have symptoms/fever again.
Thanks. I looked it up and it's as you said. It doesn't happen to everyone, just to some. They don't know why but speculate that there may not have been enough exposure (not all of the cells get the treatment or not in a high enough dose). You just start to get better and then relapse if you're one of the rebounders.

My 21-year-old got it at Christmas, as did her boyfriend, both my nieces, and one of their toddlers. My 19-year-old and almost everyone in her dorm got it in the spring. My husband got it about 2 weeks ago and my oldest daughter & her 5-year-old got it a few days ago. My other 19-year-old daughter tested positive today. All of them had been up to date on vaccinations except the 5-year-old. I know a lot of people who are getting covid now who had gone covid-free for 2 years. I also think a lot of people are willing to risk infection because they're tired of isolation, masks, etc.

Now I'm paranoid. Although I'm one of those people who have still been masking in indoor situations in public places. For the most part try to hit less crowded times for example we go to a movie, but we go on a weekday afternoon since I'm retires, saw the recent Thor movie with only about 8 people in the theater

Now we do have tickets to local theater and touring shows, so I just mask up, and so far so good. Made it through a recent vacation to NYC without issues. But I did mask on the plane and in theaters and when not actively eating in restaurants and in elevators. I'm in Texas, so mostly I'm in the minority with the mask thing.

But there's a lot if different people coming together for this Disneyland trip. One other grandma who's a nurse from out of state 3 grandkids, only one is vaxxed ( don't get me started), and me. Hopefully we all stay healthy until then. Just 11 more days!

I feel like covid is picking on me! Last summer I took my oldest granddaughter to WDW, and two weeks before the Delta variant really exploded. So there was a lot of are we going or not. We went but at that time you did have to mask up in indoor queues and shows and transpo.

I think that's the ticket right there. Covid free for 2 years and the first time I ventured out on vacation... boom I got covid. I simply couldn't sit around my house for one minute longer. I have two more trips planned and fully expect to come home sick.

So originally we were planning on taking my sister and my nephew on Thursday, 8/11. Now y’all have me thinking we should switch to Saturday!!!!

We were there yesterday and it was insane. We were there before 8, and got a ton of stuff done before 12, had lunch, used our LL on Splash, and then took a break at the hotel… we stayed overnight because my mom is older and needs a break. We went back in the evening and it wasn’t terrible. California Adventure seemed busier than Disneyland and had a bigger crowd at RD as well.

I feel you…. We had Covid in early June, but my mother has not had it yet. We were at Disneyland yesterday with her. She wore a KN95 mask everywhere. Took it off only to eat outdoors, or if she could find a place to sit completely away from others. I’m so worried she caught Covid, but she told me “I’ve had 4 darn shots and if I wait to go back to Disneyland until Covid is over, I may be ill with some other ailment by then! If I get it, I’ll take paxlovid and pray!”

But I’m completely torn up and worried….. praying she stays Covid free from the trip. I did read that this variant doesn’t seem to be causing pneumonia, in most people, even elderly. 🙏

Everyone we know had omicron in January. We somehow made it through unscathed. I flew one time right before Memorial Day, and like an IDIOT, didn’t wear a mask, and boom. Covid positive within 3 days. Our entire family got it…. Mild cases, but it took me a solid ten days to stop feeling tired and dizzy. We made it 2.5 years!

How are you feeling?

If it makes you feel better, my husband took paxlovid in June and didn’t get rebound. He recovered way faster than I did, and didn’t have any of the neurological symptoms I did. He worked from home the entire time and really only felt poorly for two days. It really helped him.

Today was MUCH better. We rope dropped and stayed till 11:30 with a 1.5 hour long break at the hotel. We rode lots, met characters, sweat a boat load and had a blast. I still hate genie + and what it’s done to the park but overall today was a lot of fun!!! Wonderful cast members, great food! It was a great third day and we are really looking forward to days 4 and 5 now!!! We rode the Falcon 3 times and loved it. We would love to try the other new Star Wars ride but it has literally been down every time we went by it!!! Thanks for all the tips, this will be our last trip for awhile so I’m happy it’s taken a turn for the better!!!!

Really not okay. And on a Saturday too.

Disney: FIX THIS!!!!
We aren't even *in* the Parks but part of our pre-prep is to scout out waittimes for the days/times we expect to be in the Park. It would have been a very frustrating morning especially if you had paid top dollar for an on-site hotel but your EMHH had all those rides down.

And if you had a park-hopper or MK but still couldn’t go to Disneyland park. I hate that rule.

We went on a Tuesday in May. Pre covid, it would be a good day to go. We were there from rope drop til close at midnight (1 hour break mid afternoon). First hour was ok, except when we walked through fantasyland...that was crowded right away). Then, so crowded, long lines for the rest of the day. Even in Fantasy land, after the parade. At one point the standby for rise was less than the matterhorn and single rider wasn't moving so we went to rise. If we had to wait for an hour, might as well do that one. Pre covid, we could do all rides, and some twice, if we stayed all day.
