It’s Not Christmas Till We Visit The Mouse! Dec. 2006

Yes, yes, I am indeed here and it's good to be back!

Thank you all for the awesome Bday wishes! I pretty much skipped my Bday this year, so this was nice to come back to :goodvibes

And, speaking of bdays.......
head on over to Lauralee131's TR and wish her a belated Happy Bday, too, cuz WE MISSED IT YESTERDAY:sad2:

It's been a rough couple of weeks - a very close friend lost her husband to cancer at the age of 33. I'm just now catching up on things and hope to get cracking on this TR again soon. Thanks so much for hanging in there! :grouphug:

V,
So glad you are back.

Sorry to hear of your friend's loss. I can't even begin to imagine. My heart goes out to her, and you, for I am sure it hasn't been easy for you either.

Looking forward to reading more of your trip, as you get the chance.

Sorry to hear of your friend's passing. It's never an easy part of life to say a final goodbye. Good thoughts & prayers are with you & your friend's family.:grouphug:

Just getting caught up on your TR. Sorry to hear about your friend's loss and yours, too I am sure.

Hope you were still able to celebrate your birthday a little. :bday:

I agree with you on Pal Mickey. Very cute, but not the best timing. He told us there was no wait at Mission Space as we walked to the bus.

Day 5 Continued
Where were we? Oh yes – we’d just enjoyed a relaxing morning and early afternoon around the Epcot Resorts and come back to a towel elephant in our room! It was time to bundle up because it was getting chillier and we were on our way to Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party!

Here’s something funny… I don’t remembering getting to the MK. I know we didn’t drive, because on our departure day, my car was in the same place I parked it after the Focker Meet. I guess we took the bus, but I have no recollection of the ride! :confused3

Somehow we did indeed arrive at the MK and were faced with a quandary: it was 3:30ish, so we could enter the park on our AP’s and pick up our wrist bands later, inside the park, or we could wait in the designated turnstiles on the right and enter on our MVMCP tickets. Having paid extra for this little Party, I really wanted to use the tickets, so we joined our fellow party-goers on the right and waited patiently to enter.

And I’m so glad we did, because I had another DIS encounter in line! URG, once again I can’t remember his DIS name, but a very nice gentleman in line next to us noticed my LGMH and we started talking. He and his family were heading into the Party, too. That makes 2 random DIS sightings so far, for anyone keeping track!:thumbsup2

Soon after, we got in and received our wrist bands. Leo’s was too big and kept slipping off, so I wound up carrying it in my bag. No one ever asked to see his, just mine and Gramma’s.

Here’s Leo and Gramma, excited about the Party and not so excited about stopping for a pic!
317290207_b3af674f06.jpg

We had planned on entering the MK early to take advantage of the purported short wait times for rides in the couple hours before the Party officially started, and, for the most part, it worked. We managed to ride It’s a Small World, Peter Pan and Buzz Lightyear with not-too-long waits. And check out V’s BL scores:
317290191_a09792a73b.jpg
317290185_c80059ef5b.jpg

Okay, okay, that second one was due to a ride interruption which conveniently placed me in front of the volcano. But the first is totally legit!:cool1:

ASIDE: For the record, Leo and I took a day trip to the MK a few weeks ago and I scored 640,000, with NO MECHANICAL BREAKDOWNS! Woo hooty!
Leo scored an acceptable 2400, a vast improvement from his previous 90.
No one remembers what Gramma’s score was, but she made it to Cosmic Commando. Way to go Space Rangers!

We had an ADR at Tony’s Town Square, but after our big lunch, we really weren’t in the mood for a big dinner. Instead, we grabbed some hot dogs at Casey’s and watched the beginning of the first Wishes of the night from a table outside. We finished before the show did, and watched the rest from outside the restrooms between Main St. and Tomorrowland Noodle Station.

317290163_ac27d1d63b.jpg

Leo was NOT happy with the fireworks. The only part he enjoyed was Tinkerbell’s Flight, especially since we were directly under her. At least I wouldn’t need to worry about getting somewhere to see the Party Wishes later!

We headed over to the Galaxy Theater for Mickey’s ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas to score some seats and found…. an empty theater! I asked a CM and she said we definitely could fit in another ride before the theater started filling up. So we headed over to the Astoorbiter, which none of us have ever done.

We’ve still never done it, because, after waiting in line about 10 minutes, Leo backed out when he saw, of all things, the elevator. I don’t know what the problem was – he loves riding elevators. But there was no convincing him and we just went to the theater and grabbed a bench about halfway up and on the end of an aisle.

We waited patiently on the warm blanket we’d brought for sitting on cold metal benches, (thank you Delta!), and Leo enjoyed watching the band warm up while seated on my lap. About 5 minutes before show time, the place was packed, standing room only, and Leo turned to me, face all aglow, and said, “Mommy – I not pee-peeing on your lap!” and turned back to the stage. Oh, that’s a good bo….WHAT???!!! :scared: Gramma saw the look on my face and asked what happened. I told her and we both agreed that Leo should get to a restroom ASAP! I grabbed Leo and fought our way through the crowd at the back of the theater, explaining to every CM the situation and they all assured me that they’d let me back in when we were done.

Know where the closest restroom is to the Galaxy Theater? Across from Space Mountain, at the old Skyway station. A LONG walk for a 4 year old who needs to GO. I encouraged him to run as fast as he could, constantly saying things like “Hang in there! We’re almost there! You can do it!”

And he did! We made it without accident and, after he completed his business, we ran all the way back. We got a lot of ugly looks from people we passed, but the CM’s did allow us back in and back to our seats with Gramma. C’mon people – like you’ve never had to make an emergency restroom run? Not my fault you all didn’t show up 45 minutes early like we did.

Crisis averted, we settled in to the show, (which started just as we sat down, TFI), and LOVED it! All Leo really wanted to see tonight was his pal, (not Pal), Mickey. And see him he did, dancing and prancing about the stage with his best girl and best buddies. And we also saw Mickey in bed with Minnie. Really. Now, I’m a bleeding-heart Liberal and couldn’t care less about such things, but this struck me as a tad un-Disney. Were the Mice secretly married at some time? Would Walt be turning over in his grave about the suggestions this conveyed? Was mine the only mind thinking about such things as the overly-perky people did their song and dance routines? :rotfl:

Show concluded, we set off for Frontierland and a good spot to see the big parade. Only one other family was lined up on the water side of the parade route and we set up shop next to them. The ropes hadn’t been put up yet, but the other family’s mom showed me where the caps in the ground were so we could all make sure we were as close to the future rope line as possible without going over. I’d totally forgotten about those! Thank you, and Have a Magical Day!:wizard:

I left Gramma and Leo to guard our space while I went into the Saloon for some hot cocoa and cookies. It was chilly and the hot cocoa was gooo-ood!

317290153_31741b19d8.jpg

While we were waiting, the Country bears were making their rounds, frolicking with the parade-waiters on the other wide of the street. Leo made it clear that he did NOT want to meet them. Not long after we finished our treats, Leo started getting really whiny and kept saying he wanted to go. And he did NOT want to see a parade. Huh? What the heck was all this about? It got so bad, he took a time out in the area behind us. My baby was absolutely sobbing by the time I finally figured out what the problem was.

It had never occurred to me to spell out just what a parade was. Somehow, I just assumed he knew. When Leo saw the bears across the way, he thought we were all lining up to BE EATEN BY THE BEARS. Yes, my darling son thought his momma and Gramma would actually set him out as part of a great Bear Buffet. I did my best to reassure him that no one was going to be eaten by bears and a parade was just a lot of fun. Fortunately for everyone, it started shortly thereafter and Leo saw for himself.

And guess what? He LOVED it!
317290049_934a0331f0.jpg

Afterward, he said to me, “Mommy? Parades are my FAVORITE!”

Post-parade, we hit the rides with virtually no waits. We did Buzz again, the Barnstormer a bunch of times, toured Mickey and Minnie’s houses, rode Winnie the Pooh, and added one more new ride to our trip: the Tomorrowland Speedway. I’ve managed to avoid this little “gem” until that night, but Leo could not be dissuaded and he took Gramma for a ride.
317290046_f7cbe33aee.jpg

Leo kept gushing about being out in the dark and how much fun it was. His bedtime is normally 7:30-8pm, so he’s rarely out after dark. This was a huge novelty!

We finally headed out at about 10:30 and got to bed around 11:30. We all agreed MVMCP was well worth the extra cost and we’ll be back for it again!

Up next: my favorite way to start a vacation day and we find another parade.

V,
I can't tell you how many times I've done the mad dash for the potty with one of the boys. The last time it was critical was at EPCOT and Bite 3 said "NOW" and I took off a'running, only to find someone was hold up in the family bathroom and the line to the ladies room was well out the door. (It was the restroom by the McDonald's, just to the right as you enter WS). We waited and waited until I thought for sure he was going to BURST! Then I had to run back to DH who grabbed him from me and made the same mad dash to the men's room, only to find the line 4 people deep. Fortunately, the kind gentlemen in front of him saw the fidgetting legs of a 3 year old and let him go ahead. Were it not for those me, I'd have been buying one expensive replacement outfit.

And the mice in bed? I'm with you on this one...Mickey and Minnie are kind of like Mr. and Mrs. Brady. You only ever saw them reading in bed together, fully clothed and with a football field between them. I never thought of Mickey and Minnie co-habitating. Go figure.

Oh V great day, I'd love to do one of the parties. Fancy Leo thinking you'd feed him to the bears. :rotfl2: It's funny seeing a photo of you in WDW in a scarf, when we go we're sweating even at night, maybe we shouldn't go in August!:rotfl:

Loved the picture of that towel elephant! How cool. We never got a single one at the Poly - there's was already a (eewww) dusty octopus up above the tv when we arrived and believe me - we LEFT IT THERE!

Here’s something funny… I don’t remembering getting to the MK. I know we didn’t drive, because on our departure day, my car was in the same place I parked it after the Focker Meet. I guess we took the bus, but I have no recollection of the ride!

Hmmmm....left over pineapple-cosmo buzz?? Perhaps??? Don't worry - happens to me a lot! To quote Peter Frampton...."Who's wine? What wine? Where the hell did I dine?" :lmao:

Not happy with the fireworks? Too loud or something? And was Tinkerbell, since you're directly under her, fully costumed? She didn't pull a Britney Spears did she?!?! :lmao: Ok, ok, I couldn't help that, but it should be stricken from the record. Jury will disregard that last statement!:sad2:

Seriously though...were you that close? Where did she end up? No, no - don't tell me...I don't wanna know...

We headed over to the Galaxy Theater for Mickey’s ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas to score some seats and found…. an empty theater! Bummer...I bet if you can get him up there, he'd love it...it's one of Michael's faves and we hit it at least 2x per trip!

*****APPLAUSE*****APPLAUSE*****

Thank YOU Princess V for not being ONE OF THOSE PEOPLE that allow their kids to pee in the nearest bush! Atta Girl!!!!!:yay: I would like THOSE PEOPLE to take notice, but THOSE PEOPLE probably don't visit the boards or they'd behave better and be shiny happy people like us!:hippie:

Crisis averted, we settled in to the show, (which started just as we sat down, TFI), and LOVED it! All Leo really wanted to see tonight was his pal, (not Pal), Mickey. Ok, now I don't feel so bad about my Britney Spears comment! We were so busy taking advantage of NO LINES on the rides that we didn't see a single show or the parade when we were at MVMCP...I had all good intentions of heading back to Main St. from Tomorrowland when the party started, but got distracted by the virtual emptiness of Fantasyland, etc...Ah well...next time...I still don't feel that the night was a waste of money though...it was worth it just to feel like we had the park to ourselves...I was living my own Keys To The Kingdom TR!! :lmao:

You crack me up! Too cute. It was VERY GOOD stuff though...we got some!!

While we were waiting, the Country bears were making their rounds, frolicking with the parade-waiters on the other wide of the street. Leo made it clear that he did NOT want to meet them. WOW - I never would have thought of that! Way to go - you SAVED THE EVENING I bet!!!:thumbsup2 If it was me I'd have just assumed he was tired and cranky...Nice catch!

I'm very disappointed I missed these guys though!!

Yaaah!! Random acts of dis-ness. I love it. :woohoo:

Cute pic! I also noticed Gramma's crocs. Great job converting her, V! I got my mom a lime green baggallini mini bag. :thumbsup2

You've GOT to come to DLand. The blasters are removable and your score will greatly increase. My last score was 780,000.

We had an ADR at Tony’s Town Square, but after our big lunch, we really weren’t in the mood for a big dinner. Instead, we grabbed some hot dogs at Casey’s and watched the beginning of the first Wishes of the night from a table outside.
Oh, man... was hoping to get a mini review on Tony's. DBro wants to eat there, but we've never been. Have you? Any good?

Mickey and Minnie are shaking up. That's funny. Actually, I think they are married. Or at least engaged. No?:confused3

I left Gramma and Leo to guard our space while I went into the Saloon for some hot cocoa and cookies. It was chilly and the hot cocoa was gooo-ood!
Mmmmm... cocoa. They have very good cocoa. I bought DD the Princess colored cocoa. Do not buy it. I was gross. Really gross. I don't know how they can even call it cocoa. Blah!

While we were waiting, the Country bears were making their rounds, frolicking with the parade-waiters on the other wide of the street. Leo made it clear that he did NOT want to meet them. I'm with Leo on this one. The Country bears ARE a little freaky deaky lookin'. And I'm with Lauralee on the deranged Gingerbread people. Just sayin'.:rolleyes1

Up next: my favorite way to start a vacation day and we find another parade.

More to come!!! WHoo HOOO!!:cool1:

V that picture of Leo watching the parade is the cutest.........it says it all about the magic of Disney.
Keep up the good work.....I love your trippie.
Oh & ps happy belated bday...did you do anything fun to celebrate?

Lauralee and Tracey will you stop doing such good multi quote replies, you're putting mine to shame. :rotfl: BTW I'm not much good with alcohol 2 glasses of wine and I'm on the floor :rotfl2:

:rotfl2: I swear, potty-training went so easily with Leo, I almost live in fear of a random accident some day. The kid can seriously go 8 hours without, you know - going!

Yep, Dec. can actually get pretty cold down here, though this year was pretty mild. Last Fri. it was in the 30's when I got up in the morning! We need to get you over here in a less "glisteny" month someday!

Loved the picture of that towel elephant! How cool. We never got a single one at the Poly - there's was already a (eewww) dusty octopus up above the tv when we arrived and believe me - we LEFT IT THERE!

:lmao: That seriously didn't even occur to me! Hmmmm.

What time did they let you in on your tix - about 4-ish?
Yep, just before 4pm.
:cool1: Woooo Hooooo - nice change from Where's the Lime?? Well, wait - is that the trip you met Gmax and her mom? Random encounters are so much fun!!
I did meet Gmax and her mom in Spet., but it wasn't all that random - we knew we were both scheduled at the same restaurant that night.
OMG he is so cute I could just BITE HIM!! Are those CROCS on Gramma's feet? :thumbsup2 Wow - have you got her totally converted now OR WHAT?!?! The shirt kinda reminds me of Chucky for some reason. Just saying....
Thank you! Yes, Gramma was actually addicted to Crocs first! She's a nurse and started wearing them for work. Now she has 5 pairs!
I need more practice - maybe a little friendly competition in August!?!?! :rolleyes1
BRING IT BABY!!!! :rotfl:
Not happy with the fireworks? Too loud or something? And was Tinkerbell, since you're directly under her, fully costumed? She didn't pull a Britney Spears did she?!?! :lmao: Ok, ok, I couldn't help that, but it should be stricken from the record. Jury will disregard that last statement!:sad2:
Seriously though...were you that close? Where did she end up? No, no - don't tell me...I don't wanna know...
I'm not touching that last part! I think it was all the noise combined with over-stimulation that led to Leo's lack of enjoyment.
Bummer...I bet if you can get him up there, he'd love it...
I KNOW!! Next time, I just drag him on and ignore the stares.

:woohoo: Woooo Hoooo - V saved the day!!
:cool1:
How's Gramma's neck? Man after riding with Michael I needed to see a chiropractor!! :rotfl:
Gramma says he drove great. :rolleyes1

Only 1 cocktail for you in August! :rotfl:
No, no - I'm much more fun with 2, really!

Cute pic! I also noticed Gramma's crocs. Great job converting her, V! I got my mom a lime green baggallini mini bag. :thumbsup2
Excellent! I swear, Gramma's lime green bag was far more visible than any LGMH I wore.
You've GOT to come to DLand. The blasters are removable and your score will greatly increase. My last score was 780,000.
Stop now, I'm drooling.
Oh, man... was hoping to get a mini review on Tony's. DBro wants to eat there, but we've never been. Have you? Any good?
I have. Um, do you value good, or at least decent, Italian food? if so, I'd stay away. If you can stomach the idea that someone can actually screw up spaghetti in the interest of a really pretty restaurant, go for it!

Keep up the good work.....I love your trippie.
Oh & ps happy belated bday...did you do anything fun to celebrate?
Thank you so much! Nope, never did celebrate, but I'm seriously thinking of switching my Bday to June. Too many bad things have happened around the real one!

No problem Jo - just order mixed drinks at WDW and you'll consume little or no alcohol! :rotfl: Except for the pineapple ones of course. TFI.

Sounds like a fun party and bravo on the Buzz score! Go, V!!!!
