It’s Not Christmas Till We Visit The Mouse! Dec. 2006

Good for you V!! Looks like you had some fun!

I bought us Mickey/Minnie/Goofy stockings on Disneyshopping.com and plan to have them "appear" in our room as well...I was even thinking of bringing those little 3M removable hooks with me...they work great. However, I don't have much in the way of stocking stuffers yet...:confused3 Baby steps I guess!

:thumbsup2 Not too much longer now!!

I LOVE the look on the man's face behind you!

V.......What fun you lucky girl!!!! But I'm with you on the single trip. I can't even go to the movies alone. Don't think I could do it either. Looks like you guys had fun, though. Was everyone staying at Disney?

Bonus on the shopping! Your little sweet man is gonna love all the goodies. Two more weeks!

I am reading about those of you who have had the opportunity to do a girls mini trip and I've decided, that yes. That will happen for me. Thanks for the inspiration.

The funny part was that we were actually a group of 3 women and 3 men, but it totally felt like a Girls' Day Trip! Two of the guys kindly put up with our silliness and kept us out of trouble, and the third joined in the fun!
I can't recommend hitting The World with a gorup of adult friends enough :dance3:

I am SOOOO jealous! I would love to get away and do a mini-trip, especially during Food & Wine! That's it! We're moving to Florida!

P.S. It looks like you had way too much fun! :teeth:

I do enjoy my mini-trips, but they're no substitute at all for the real, settle-in-and-stay-a-while trips! I'm really looking forward to not feeling rushed for a few days....

Ah, Dinseyshopping.com, the bane of my existence. I swear, no matter what I buy at WDW, the online store comes out with a special discount at least twice my AP discount a day or two after I buy something. I think some people are just born without the ability to get the best deal.

Love the hook idea! I've found lots of good stocking-stuffer type things in the $1 bins at Target and the Disney Store lately.

Isn't that classic?! If that doesn't indicate just how obnoxious SOME of our group was being, I don't know what

Nope - I couldn't sell anyone on the joy that is staying on-property. :sad2: I even offered to split my room with someone, but they all chose to stay off-property. FYI, they also didn't understand that you have to get there early in the morning if you actually want to do the attractions. DISers, they are NOT!!

Looks like you had a great time at the F&W festival. As proven by the pics. :thumbsup2 Also got surprises for little Leo. He is gonna love that. It will also make dinner time easier - What a mom! Can't wait to hear what the other purchase was. Guess I'll have to wait for the real trip report to find that out. :rolleyes1 popcorn::

   Come On....I can't wait for the TR....give us a hint...one more item...

Is it bigger than a bread box??

Is it smaller than a shoe box??

Is it....DVC??

Come on...don't make me pick up the phone and dial for ADR's...they hate me there...give me something! Throw me a bone?! I won't tell Leo...or gramma...:teeth:

No? A pirate ship? Ok, grasping at straws here....

Yes.
Nope.
Nope, but Leo is getting one for Christmas, so good guess!

Heh heh.

V!!!!!
I'm so excited for your trip!! Less than 2 weeks.... so that means your completed TR should be in around.... 2.5 weeks??? Huh, huh, huh??? :confused3 Well, a girl can wish!!! :teeth:
I hit DLR today, in 80 degree weather, but the magic of Disney at Christmas is something everyone needs to experience. I love the sights, sounds and mmmmmm the smells!!!

Thanks for the mini-TR of F&W. That's my future goal.... me and DH on a food-tastic trip around Epcot, sans kidlets!! Sounds like you had a great time! I do love the photos and Glenda, that guys face IS classic!!! :lmao:

LOL, I don't think I'll be so speedy this time, I'm afraid - with all this WDW palnning, I've completely neglected holiday shopping and wrapping!

Up until a few days ago, we've been in the 80's, too. But a cold front moved through and it's highs in the low-60's all week - hope it lasts! A nip in the air just gives all the holiday splendor of WDW a little more oomph :goodvibes

You guys MUST do an adult-only F&W trip someday! I brought Leo once and it was not fun. Funny how toddlers don't like standing around in lines for food they won't eat. :confused3

Going back a few steps, you’ll recall my addition of an extra night on 11/30. And a primary reason for the addition was the listing of 12/1 as an optimum touring day. Which leads me to CHANGE OF PLANS, part 139.

I had been planning to hit the MK on 12/2, but the parade taping made me seriously question the wisdom of that idea. Sure, the taping will occur on 12/1 too, but that’s a Friday. I’m pretty sure more Central and West Floridians will try for the Sat. parade taping, thus boosting crowd levels at the MK on 12/2. No thanks. Back to the spread sheet. :surfweb:

Upon further review, this little change worked wonders for the rest of the trip! Switching the MK morning to 12/1 opened the morning of 12/2 for the AK, a much better day for us than was originally laid out. And, switching AK opened an extra morning to fit in MGM, so Leo can visit with his buddies at Playhouse Disney! It was a trifecta of scheduling wins. The only loss is of my AP preview reservation for Finding Nemo at AK: I already reserved it for 12/3 and can’t change it. (Sorry Lauralee!) But, we’ll be back and if we don’t see it this trip, we’ll catch it next time.

Of course, you know what’s coming next, right? All these changes messed up my ADR plans. No problem at all – I called up with my list in hand, (including back-up times and locations for each request), and…

I GOT THEM ALL!!!

The only not-quite-what-I-wanted ADR I got was for Boma, and it was only 30 minutes earlier than I wanted. From what I hear, it'll take 45 minutes to seat us, anyway. I’m golden now, baby!

The new, complete and final (ish) plan is this:
11/30: drive, dinner @ Boatwright’s, maybe a carriage ride at POR
12/1: MK in the morning, lunch @ Liberty Tree Tavern, evening at DTD with dinner @ Wolfgang Puck Express
12/2: AK, dinner at Boma
12/3: check in at BWI, MGM in the morning, lunch @ Sci Fi, evening at EP
12/4: free morning – maybe a pony ride at FW, MVMCP, dinner at Tony’s
12/5: breakfast @ Spoodles, free morning, evening at MGM
12/6: EP, lunch @ Garden Grill, drive home

I think this is a good one – plenty to do, but plenty of room to make some last minute decisions and changes, too. Enough ADR’s to give Gramma and me a break from transporting and cleaning up after meals, but not so many as to wreak havoc with park touring. A few evenings out, but a good balance of early-to-bed nights, too, to keep Leo performing at his very bestest.

Only 4 business days left  (we don’t count today, Wed. is a half-day, Thurs. and Fri. are holidays, and I’ve got a dentist appt. Mon, so that’s another half day! Ah, the powers of rationalization….) It’s game-on!!!!!!!!

Don't you just LOVE tweaking the plan?!? Just when you think you've got it perfect, BAM!, something else pops up and you have to tweak, tweak, tweak, until the plan is even better!!! I did this more times than I'd like to admit for our Halloween trip. The last, and probably biggest tweak was adding the Train Tour for my DH, the DAY BEFORE WE LEFT! Whew! That was cutting it close! But, it all worked out! You are very smart to avoid MK on the parade taping day! We were there in 2003 and it was a ZOO! We didn't stay long, that's for sure! If I don't 'type' to you before you leave, I hope you all have an awesome time WDW!!! I'm sooo looking forward to reading about your adventures when you return!

Take care,
Michelle

Sounds like a great plan! I would love to have done the carriage ride at POR...no time. And I'm anxious to hear about lunch at LTT...I hear that it's really good...better than dinner. Also, I like the way you have your Epcot/MGM days once you are at BWI...VERY convenient.

Now, I'm sure I'm not telling you anything you don't already know.....I think I remember you saying that you don't usually take the Disney transportation. Although we found WDW buses quite convenient to MK, EP, and MGM....we did NOT find them to be reliable from POR to AK. The buses don't seem to run very often and they stop at Blizzard Beach on the way. Drive to AK from POR unless you have an hour to spare.

4 more days....you crack me up. :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Looks like you've got it planned, so that it doesn't look planned to Gramma. ;) :rotfl: You are going to have a great time. I think I am looking forward to your trip as much as you are. I can't wait for the real TR from PrincessV! :hourglass popcorn::

Have a great Thanksgiving!
