The Radiator Springs ride looks really cool! Glad you had fun!

I just have to comment though on the whole picture-taking-showing-your-drivers-license thing to get into the park. That sounds awful to me! I know the finger scan gets a lot of criticism at WDW but it doesn't bother me. I don't think I would like getting my picture taken and having to show my license.

Your resort photos are awesome!!

There process seemed really backwards to me. I only had to show my license once while there because she said she couldn't read my signature, but really it took much longer to get in by having a person scan you ticket, look at your picture and then scan once again to get in the park.

After our thrilling ride we headed over towards Mater’s Junkyard Jamboree….again with me taking pictures along the way.







Again the line wasn’t too long and moved pretty fast.



















Soon it was our turn and this one took us by surprise. Every time we whipped around a circle our wagon went flying to one side. We were laughing so hard. And the seats are slippery so my rear was sliding back and forth and I am sure I was smashing poor Cass. It was great fun, but I don’t think it would be on I would go on over and over either. I am sure Claire would love it though.

After that, we had finished with Carsland and I was getting hungry. We decided we should head over to Paradise Pier and ride California Screamin before we ate for obvious reasons. Also, Toy Story Mania is over there and we wanted to get to that before the crowds came in.

Look who we ran into as we made our way over.





I am going to warn you now….You will see many pictures of the Ferris Wheel. I just love taking them…now would I ride it?????? Never in a million years. That is a death trap! Cass mentioned she would like to and I told her she could but I will sit it out. There is no way I am going to get in a swinging car and sit up high like that. You will fall to your death surely!!!!





We were walking fairly fast, but I was still able to keep shooting.



This spot made me long for a Disney cruise.







We made a quick potty stop before riding as well…for obvious reason!



And we got in line and again it wasn’t too long of a wait.



I’ll admit I was nervous about this ride. I knew it had a takeoff like Rocking Roller Coaster and that tickles me so much and I just hold my breath. It wasn’t too bad and I was squealing along the way.

It was a fun ride and I am so glad I rode it.

Again Cass has the cool pose while I am trying to smile, but just look plain dorky.

The stationary ones sway....thats spinning in my opinion!!!! It's just a death trap!!!!!!! And seeing something from a distance...not a selling point! That just tells you how high you are when you fall to your death!

It's funny how you mention that the "magic" wasn't there, or at least not like it is for you at WDW. Our family is planning our first WDW trip for next summer. I am worried about the same thing as Disneyland is our home park, pass holders for 14 years. Reading your report is helping me to realize that I need to adjust my expectations. We have so many memories associated with Disneyland. I don't want my unrealistic expectations to negatively impact our WDW trip.

We have done the ferris wheel - IN a moving cart and it FREAKED me out. I have not been screeming so much in all my life.

I do NOT blame you for not riding it. California Screaming on the other hand is an AWESOME ride, which I cannot wait to get on again.

Looks like a great trip so far.

I really want to try DL but I have yet to convince my Hubby to take the long plane trip. The longest he has gone is to Florida.

Enjoyed reading about your nice tour with Stacy and Mark.

I love CarsLand from everything I have seen so far, I really wish they would bring it to WDW, but I guess I will have to wait till I can get out to DL instead. Love the pics from the Radiator Springs Racers, I really like the ones with the waterfall and that bridge.

I understand what you mean about the Ferris Wheel, I used to HATE them! Now I can handle them (and almost Like them) if the car is enclosed but not if it is open like those bench ones with a bar, I can't do those. I don't think I could do those ones that slide around on the one at DCA, I would probably have to do a stationary one.

I really think your home park is the one that is most magical for you. I have an internet friend who goes to Disneyland Paris a lot. Now I have heard from many people that it is not quite as magical because of the way they do things there. Many like it, but just don't get the same feelings. She swears this is the best park. She has been to all of the parks around the world and she stil lloves DLP the best.
That being said, I am sure you will have a wonderful time at WDW. It is different, so be prepared. Just expect it to be different.

Yes, the long ride was what has been one of the reasons we haven't gone out there. I really think breaking it up into 2 flights worked well for me. I usually like direct flights, but this was nice to have a little bit of time to get up and stretch and i think my mind could handle it better that way.
Carland is really nicely done. So much to look at and photograph!
Stacy and Mark gave me the VIP treatment!!!

We had one more attraction we wanted to do before getting some lunch….Toy Story Mania! It had just turned 10, which meant the public was now being let in so we quickly walked over there before the crowds got too big.

One thing I learned about California….most of the queues are outside. I guess that is because it doesn’t rain much there?...in Sunny California! This is one thing that WDW does better. Inside queues often means better theming.



It was strange to see Mr. Potato Head right outside with us.



While we waited in line I took a picture of one of the Death Traps cars.



This was probably the longest line we waited in so far today, but again it kept moving and soon we were on it. It was a very fun ride and I can’t tell the differences from this one to WDW’s version. I would say they are pretty much the same ride. Of course my arm was killing me and Cass really kicked my butt in the score. I can’t wait to play against Claire at WDW where I am sure I have a much better chance at being the winner!!! (and now that I am back from that trip…I did!)

As we left we went through this cute room at Andy’s house, so of course I stopped to take a picture.



You could look down from here and see the dump shop that we would be exiting through.



And out we went. Paradise Pier has some cute theming, but I will admit this kind of stuff at Disney is not a turn on for me. I don’t like this kind of stuff at Animal Kingdom either.





We passed Buzz out for a greet and I took a quick picture.



Later in the week we walked by this same spot and I said to Cass “I bet this is where Toy Story characters meet” and she was like….”Um, yeah, you took a picture of Buzz there the other day”. LOL! Being tired really works on the memory! (That’s my excuse and I am sticking to it!!)

I loved this row of Palm trees.





We came up to Goofy’s Sky School and Cass asked if I wanted to jump on this one since the wait wasn’t too long. She described it as Barnstormer on Steroids. Ok, sounds fun.





The line actually moved slower than we thought it would, but it wasn’t too bad.







Almost there.



We got in our little car and I expected it to be like a Wild Cat ride, which goes up and down and really jerky.





It became very clear to me soon that Goofy does NOT know how to fly and Cass had lured me onto a Death Trap!!!!



This ride would round the corners and I swear every time I felt like we were going to fly off the track. Yes it was jerky and that made me more nervous because I expected us to be jerked right off those tracks at any moment….and we stayed up high too! I could see my death at every turn!



I think Cass was just laughing away as I mumbled about how horrible this ride was and I was sure to die at any moment. And of course at the end of the ride it jerks you to a stop….and then we both started laughing about it.
Let’s just say I won’t be going back on that ride anytime soon!

By now I was getting pretty darn hungry and we decided to find lunch. Cass suggested heading to the Grand Californian and check if our itinerary had arrived yet and then getting lunch there.

As we walked by this ride, my first thought was death trap….and what a stupid ride. Not something I would think would be in a Disney park…they also had swings….which are also in the category of Death trap as well. So this area of Paradise Pier would not be one I would want to hang out in long. For one I wouldn’t ride the rides and 2, with all those Death Trap rides…..bodies will be flying all over the place!







Before going into GC, we did stop and get fastpass for World of Color for the evening. Let’s just say the machines are a bit different than WDW’s were and it took us a few minutes to figure out why nothing was coming out for us. LOL!

Fun update again! I can just see Cass luring you onto that ride! We have something like that here at our fair and it is called the "Crazy Mouse".
We have ridden that thing at the Warner Movie Park in Germany and while fun it is pretty scary, especially if you sit in the front row.

Can't wait to hear what you are going to have for lunch and see pics of WoC!

I love this little room at the end of Toy Story Midway Mania. I have done what is now Goofy's Flying School when it was still Mulholland Madness and although I was OK with it, this is not a ride I am hurrying to do again.

My thinking was...she was okay on the scary coaster, surely a little kiddy coaster would be nothing!

Little did we know, we would have a very good view of that death trap the very next day from our balcony

Your making miss Disneyland bad. The first time we went on Goffys fly school it was called something different and I felt the same way. Thought we were going to leave the track. So I never rode it again. My youngest loves that ride. When we went in 2012 he rode it tons. He also loves the swings. The first time we went to DCA in 2003 we rode the ferris wheel in the swinging car and I freaked big time and I thought by dh was going to have a heart attack. So now we only ride the none swing ones.

Radiator Springs Racer ride looks fun, too. I have always been too scared to ride Test Track at Epcot, but I might try to do it this trip! Do you think they both go about the same speed? I also wouldn't ride California Screaming because I'm so scared to go on the Aerosmith ride at HS!

Fun update, I like some of the Carnival type rides from my days going to the school/church Carnivals we had growing up, the swings was always one of my faves, although I agree, I kind of think they are a little out of place at Disney.

From the track picture you posted that Goofy's Sky School looks kind of like Primeval Whirl (assuming) without the spinning?

I forgot to ask from the last update, does California Screaming go upside down?

YES!!! We were in the front...well I don't even remember if it had a back..I don't think it did, because I think if we did the people behind us would've thought I was crazy.

I can't believe they can legally have that many death traps in on area!!!!
With CS, we are constantly moving... up and down...not bad. With Goofy's ..up high the whole time and on the edge of the tracks....and it's trying to fling you off!
I think that death trap just haunted me the whole time!

I think you guys will enjoy DL. There is a lot to do and see there.
Test Track is super easy. It just goes fast outside at the end and no faster than in a car on the road. This one might be slightly more thrilling because you go over a few small bunny hills too. I loved it!

I post this on Passporters forum too and someone noticed that as well. Super creepy! I have no clue who he is. Maybe a reflection of a kid looking at the photos, but he does seem to have a coaster face going. Is he in your picture?

I never noticed it either till someone on another board pointed it out. It's kind of creepy.
The swings...oh those are so scary. I have heard carnie stories of how they have had people fly off of those before because the chain broke.....never for me! But if my kids want to ride it...well they take their lives in their own hands on that one.

Goofy's is not like primevil whirl...another one I don't like, but only because of the spinning. This one stays up high the whole time and makes these hairpin turns and it feels like you will fly off the track at any second.
