Just wondering, I am taking my first cruise with my girlfriend on May 4, 2003. I have been reading some of the threads and one thing has been perplexing me. What does GTY stand for regarding staterooms?

If you're referring to your confirmation from DCL, and it says GTY next to the word "Stateroom", that means that you are guaranteed a stateroom in the category that you've requested, but that a specific room number has not yet been assigned.

Thanks for the heads up guys.
How many cruises have the both of you been on?

1) I understand the rotation for dinner but are we assigned times for breakfast and lunch. I am assuming that for B and L we can go as we please but I need confirmation. Are we given tickets for 3 meals a day or do we have to just present our KTTW. If we have eaten breakfast and want a snack by the pool or something, is that free as well?(Free=included with the cruise cost)

All of your food is included in the price of the cruise. Except for Palo and alcohal beverages, water, and soda pop. They have a free beverage station on deck 9, that you can get lemonade, coffee, hot tea(alot of cruisers make ice tea with this;) ), milk and water(past cruisers state the water is good). You can get soda pop with dinner. Your dinner rotation will be on you KTTW card when you recieve it. It will read something like A P L A, which stands for Animators, Parrot Cay, Lumieres, Animators. Breakfast and Lunch you can go as you please at the designated times. They have Beach Blanket Buffet on deck 9 also.

Hope this helps and I haven't confused you!!

I have never cruised, but I have learned so much from this board its the best. Keep the questions coming I will try to help.

For breakfast and lunch can be eaten in the restaurants (open specific times) or at the buffet, they have a menu posted outside, they change each day. Soda is available in the sit-down restaurants for any meal at no additional charge. Room service is available 24 hours a day at no additional charge, except for drinks and gratuity.
One thing the servers like is that you are not late to dinner, especialy if you are on first rotation. They have things they need to do in order to get ready for the next seating.
Have a great trip.

We took our first cruise on the Wonder in May 2002, and will be cruising in Sept this year...our daughter is getting married on Castaway Cay. You will have dinner tickets in your room that will have the restaurant listed that you will eat at each night, and the table number. It's helpful to take them with you the first night, but your table number doesn't change, so after the first night you don't have to take them with you. We had so much great food at our meals that we were never hungry in between, so except for the kids getting the free ice cream at Scoops, we didn't search out food at any other time. There aren't tickets for breakfast or lunch, you go as you please according to the times/places that are open...and lunch is served on some excursions and at Castaway Cay. A drink is included with these lunches, but if you want sodas you can charge them on Castaway Cay to your room, and have to pay cash on other excursions like Blue Lagoon.
Keep the questions coming....I learned so much here before our first cruise!!!

Your daughter is getting married on the island? WOW! I had no idea you could do that. Make sure you take a lot of photos. Myself and DG plan on getting married at a Disney location. (In the future...2007 maybe) and would like any resource we can find.

Does everyone go to the shows. If so, how do they fit everybody. I realize that the shows are coordinated based on dinner rotation but that still leaves a lot of people right? Must we make reservations for the shows that pique our interest.

Another question is, we are on a land and sea package but we are not flying down to Florida thus we did not pay the extra fee for transfers. Do we bring our own luggage on board or does the DCL still take ours?

We'll probably have more photos than we'll know what to do with!! We're very excited...I know that Disney does a wonderful job no matter where their weddings are held. We saw two last year at the Polynesian, and have seen one at the Disneyland Hotel in CA.
You don't make reservations for the shows on board the ship, they have plenty of room, and not everyone goes to them all. Arrive early if you'd like to sit in the front.
If you have your own transportation to the port, you will handle your luggage. When you arrive at port, they'll check your luggage just like the airlines do. And the evening before you return to port, you will still have to set your luggage outside your door, and retrieve it at their baggage claim in the morning, just like everyone else. Make sure you have a "day bag" to hold your toiletries and pj's, and make sure you leave out appropriate clothing for your return home! If you are taking the DCL bus from your resort to the ship, then your luggage will go on the bus with you.
