I'm so upset and angry i think my Housing Officer is really out to get me.

I had some trouble with my money last month so i had to pay my rent a week late, when i paid it last week the lady at the Housing Assosiation officer said it was ok and she would make a note on my file and not to worry and that Housing Benefit made a late payment which was prob to due to Bank Holiday.

Well today i get a nice hand delievered letter from my Housing Officer saying I'm £150 in arrears and threatening me with legal action. So tomorrow i have to get up early for the gas man (no idea what time he will show his face) and then traspe down to the Housing Assosiation office in town. I'm so worried that I'm going to be made homeless. The other lady last week assured me on the phone that everything was ok and now today i recieve this "threatening and nasty" letter. Mum has told me not to worry and that this is procedure, but when you have paid your rent how can threatening you be procedure? I think my Housing Officer is out to get me. :furious:

I had such a nice day today at my mums and i have come home to this and i'm not happy :(

Sorry to vent, just need to get it off my chest.

Oh Emma Im sure it will be ok, try not too worry too much:hug: hope you get it sorted out 2moro, take care and good luck:hug:

vent away if it makes you feel better, I think these housing officers think they own the association sometimes and they certainly dont know how to communicate with each other. Hope you soon get this mess sorted, You dont need this hassle. sending you a big:hug:

Thanks guys :)
I think she doesn't understand that housing benefit pays in arrears, i tryed to explain this to her when i saw her 2 months ago and she was like yes don't worry, now i seem to see her every week hand delievering me letters. I know i missed my last gas check because i had to go doctors but this is no need to start a vendetta against me.

Maybe i'm being paranoid but i feel like she is singling me out, esp as i never had of this with my last housing officer, she was a very nice lady indeed.

hope you get it sorted Emma:hug:

Argh what a BLEEP.
Sorry to hear you've had this nasty letter  Hope you get it sorted x

Hoping all is sorted out for you Emma, cheer up.

Sara. :)

Maybe the letter was generated automatically before you paid :confused3
Hope you get it sorted :wizard:

I am off out to see the people in question in a minute...hopefully it will all be sorted. I'm may ask for a new housing officer aswell.

Well i have just got home and pffft!

The lady in the office said i'm recieving full housing benefit so isnt sure what the Housing Officer is talking about...well after doing so sums and the HO ringing me she said i was only owed £21...then said if i dont pay it by next she will take further action.

All this for £21 is a joke. Next week i would like to rub that £21 in her face.

I used to work for a housing association in the 1980s typing the rent arrears letters and we used to send out threatening letters for such sums at 22p or £1.50. They were fairly standard letters but had to be done as the Housing Associations are assessed on their performance in keeping rent arrears down.

They definately are not personal though. All tenants in arrears however small would receive a letter. Don't take it to heart nobody is out to get you. Please do not worry and enjoy your weekend.
