Issues with beer and wine delivery at resort?

So we put in an order for groceries including beer and wine via Amazon Prime. I got a call from Amazon while at MK saying that bell services would not sign for the package. I called bell services and they said they would “make an exception this time”. We have not had an issue with delivery at Pop or POR in the last year. Has something changed?

I have never used Amazon Prime, we always use gardengrocer.com. Bell services have always stored our goodies, beer included.

I am not sure what happened here?

Amazon Prime Now’s official policy is that you must be present to meet the driver if your order contains alcohol. I know there have been cases where Bell Services will sign or the delivery service will allow it, but in those situations the guests have been lucky. In your case what changed was the willingness of the CM on duty to do otherwise in the past. Sometimes people get lucky and sometimes they don’t.

For comparison:
Garden Grocer does not require that you be present.

Instacart’s policy is the same as Amazon’s.

Walmart will not deliver alcohol at all.

Thanks. So the issue is Amazon and not the resorts? I guess we will go back to using GardenGrocer.

I think it’s a combination of both. I’ve seen plenty of posts where alcohol has been left with Bell Services. It has never worked out that way in our case. Five deliveries (some Amazon and some Instacart), three resorts, had to meet the driver for all of them.

In one case my parents were on the same reservation, different room number (DVC 2BR lockoff) and their alcohol was delivered while they were at Epcot, meanwhile we had to meet the driver 2 hours later when our order arrived. It’s just really inconsistently enforced on both sides.

I've never had alcohol delivered to a hotel, but my husband ordered a case of wine once -- what a headache that turned out to be. The delivery man came around 10:00 one day and left a note saying, "Tried to deliver, no one home; an adult must sign" ... came again the next day, same time. Look, Dude, we work every day; it's not rocket science. My husband ended up having to take a long lunch and drive to the FedEx place to pick it up. Not worth the small savings for home.

I assume you're doing this because you're flying and can't pack alcohol? Here's an alternate choice: Order your stuff from a grocery store near DisneyWorld, but order it FOR PICK UP. Ask your taxi to stop, and you can be in /out of the grocery store in 5-10 minutes.
