Issues charging to your magic bands after check out (and even before)

First I have heard of it. I know I have used my MB after I checked out with a problem - they have my card on file and just charge it on an as-used basis.

Had a similar problem on DCL once though - they wouldn't let me off the ship until I returned to guest services to settle my bill. We had upped our interest in DVC on that cruise and it overran the card (oops!).

I always wondered what happened if I couldn't pay? Would they make me stay on the Fantasy? Cause I might have been okay with that.

That is what is supposed to happen, but for whatever reason, Disney screwed up and didn't charge Jennasis's card like they were supposed to. I'd be ticked too and be making damn sure they were charges we had made.

Well, I would most certainly double and triple check that the purchases were correct. I doubt I would have been angry with them over it - computer glitches happen. In the words of John Bender: Screws fall out all the time, the world is an imperfect place. As long as they didn't charge my card AND send me a bill claiming they didn't get paid, I would have most likely shrugged, paid and moved on with my life.

Odd though that they didn't at least include a way TO pay. probably hasn't happened enough for them to have an automated procedure to deal with it. most likely it was so unusal they had to deal with it via some manual fallback.

Seeing that apparently many of us have never heard of this happening, I thought a heads up that it was a possibility to the DIS populace was appropriate.

If I receive a paper, email, phone call, or anything else that doesn't look UNQUESTIONABLY official - these days - I assume it is SCAM.

There are any number of ways someone easily could set up a fake WDW bill scam....

Yeah... Now that you mention it, my first reaction would have been to log into the WDW website to see if I see anything in there that shows a balance. Failing that, I would have called Disney directly (not from the number on the letter, but from their published phone number) and inquired.

I typically do that without thinking about it these days, but that's a great point.
