I just logged on Alamo to print my confirmation and do online check in and Im getting an error message "Could not validate coupon, continued without coupon" but I have had not issues before. It won't let me get past that error message to even look at the reservation, let alone complete online check in.

Anyone have this issue?

Going to guess you used a now-defunct coupon - $50 one? They started to question, then removed them starting early May this year.

I argued mine @ gate in May but when I got home, rebooked all other reservations thru them.

Others have said they've since been able to have the coupon honored. Did you print out your original confirmation? If so, drag it along and hope you're persuasive. If going that route would suggest booking a back up reservation.

Good luck

I don't remember what coupons /codes I used. I can't pull up the reservation. I'll be so mad! I had a dollar reservation that was even cheaper than this and I just cancelled the other day.

No matter what I do it won't pull up the reservation. Just says error..

Yes I have the original email confirmation.

Also read the AS1 code no longer works. Did you use that one? There was also an expired $35 coupon that also no longer works too. All are causing problems. Good luck. Did you call?

I had the same issue with my October rental. I'm not 100% sure what codes I used because I booked it back in April, but I'm assuming they were the Vegas Brazil and AS1 codes. I emailed Alamo and this was the response I received. I have my confirmation email but booked a backup just in case.

"Certain reservations booked with coupons may not have the ability to access our Online Checkin platform, as the counter would have to qualify the rental. I do see there is a coupon on this reservation that is restricting the Online Checkin."

"Qualify" is an interesting term used.

Hmmm

sounds like they are trying to divert the renters with these codes/coupons to require stopping @ the desk in the terminal

Vs

Tying up the garage booth while they plead their case/ask for management over-rides, effectively backing up the line for everybody.

I find it ironic that I received a confirmation email this morning. Ill paste what it says below.. About an hour after that I received an email from alamo stating

"It looks like the coupon is expired. The dates on it are good from Feb 17, 2010 - Jan 14, 2016. We would not be able to accept it for that reason. Our apologies for any inconvenience this may cause!"

I made my reservation in February...... I would think if it expired in January that it wouldn't allow me to book it in February

which coupon did you use? why not call now and switch the coupon to a legitimate coupon while you have time. It would be better to lost some of the value instead of all of it. I think the AD3868JST for $25 still works.

I emailed them and am waiting for a reply. The reservation is under the hubbys name. He despises calling places...... he's weird like that lol.

I have no idea what coupon code I used. I have it highlighted above

I just tried that coupon and its $90 more

I had the $50 coupon, and thanks to this board, saw it was no longer valid. I had same thing, could not log into the reservation. It would have been nice if it never appeared to work, or if they sent an email that the reservation had been cancelled. Or leave the reservation and have it cost $50 more, with removal of the bad coupon.

I rebooked it with the $25 one, then just cancelled that because Costco (I am a member) came down, which includes a $25 coupon when you book thru the Costco website, and it includes the 2nd driver free, and it is not using a funky code. (and I have used Vegas Brazil in the past and will again, if it saves me $$)

So they just cancel your reservation? I just received an email from Alamo today with my reservation and the price showing the sane amount.

We had the problem this weekend when we tried to look at our reservation. I figured we'd just take our confirmation to the desk. Better have DH call tomorrow.

It is sad to see threads like this. People book cars using iffy codes and expired coupons they know are expired. Then they complain when car rental company questions rental.

Car rental says you have to go to counter to show affiliation and there are complaints? I was just asked for Costco card by Alamo when I rented at a small airport in Arizona. There was no bypassing the counter.

I used to be one who'd use the iffy codes but after a family member was asked for ID and had to pay walk up rate I learned.

Hope it works out for everyone to get rate you had, but this should serve as warning to some !

Please let me know what they say. Thank you
ok he just called. They read back the reservation and told us the price ($1 more than the email confirmation) We will just have to go to the counter to get the car instead of being able to do online check in. We're flying into Tampa not Orlando though. They man didn't say why we weren't able to check in online.

Wait, you have to go to the counter if you use Costco? I know you have to show your card, but why at the counter?

No just at the small airport I was at. They had no kiosk or gate person. When I used Costco at MCO in January we did online checkin and went straight to car and didn't show anything. I just mentioned because you never know if you'll be asked! Especially if you get that person!

One of the people in this thread booked the code in February, and NOW Alamo says the code expired in January. Not sure the poster knew that it was expired when they used it.

Whereas I wasn't asked for it at LAX on a recent trip.
