My daughter is doing the Flat Stanley project. She has two of them, and one of my friends is hosting one of them in Texas, so I am looking for someone to host the other one in another state or even country. They will be discussing Flat Stanley's travels on 4/8, so we would like to turn him in by the ending of this month.

If anyone is able to host Flat Stanley, or has any questions, could you please let me know. There will be a decorated Flat Stanley send along with a letter to explain what is being asked for this project.

TIA. :flower3:

I'd love to do this! I did the Flat Stanley in 3rd grade and I sent it to my aunt and she never did it.. I was very sad!

If there's time to send him to NY, I can take him around lower Manhattan! :)

Oops--sorry, just read that you have someone :( Oh well, at least I hit 1,000 posts!

Patsy,
Maybe I'm behind, but what is Flat Stanley?

He is the main character in a collect of Flat Stanley books. In the original story, Stanley becomes flattened after being pinned under a bulletin board. This turns out to be an advantage for him since he realizes that he can fit into an envelope, and be mailed to visit his friend in California.

Throughout the years, teachers have taken this activity, and turned it into a social studies project. Third graders send off their Flat Stanley to family, and friends, and they take the Flat Stanley to different places and take pictures with them, decorate F.S. according to something that resembles their state, .... write a story of his travels during this visit, send a postcard, souvenior....and the teachers and the students track where all the F.S. have gone, and learn about the location.

For the Pen Pal Letter Swap, for the month of March, we are also doing the Flat Stanley project with our pen pals :).

Thanks for explaining. My sons never had this assignment, sounds like a fun and interesting project.

I never had it when I was in school either. My daughter did a summer project I think two or three years ago, and asked the DISers for help. It was a nice way to get to know different places.

I think I may do it again this summer, so I will be asking DISers for help again.

My daughter's teacher told the class yesterday that if one of their Flat Stanleys arrive back to them early, they can send him off to another place so I thought of you. But, the only thing is that it would have to be a quick turn around since we will need to submit the project in by the ending of the month. Would you still be interested?
