ISO settings

they really are fantastic photos - even from a nikon ;) (just teasing)

Wow! Great shots at such a high ISO!

What length lens were you using?

Impressive stuff, Jeff. When are you going to try the ultimate WDW low-light test, Peter Pan?

(Let's see. I could sell the D50, the D80, a couple of lenses...)

Thanks Ed- I would like to get there if I could just get thru my ongoing home omprovement projects- I have barely touched my camera since January 1st.

I notice that I can see your EXIF data on these shots even though they are posted from your smugmug account. Apparently it's because they are linked to the original file rather than medium, large, x-large, etc. That's something I wasn't aware of since I, like most others, link to something besides the original. Were you aware of this? Maybe I didn't get the memo........

Yes I was aware of this- I wish I knew why Smugmug strips the EXIF data on all file sizes except 'Original' or if there was a way to change it. I typically upload full size files and just post the XL link- but if it is a post I think someone may be interested in the EXIF info I resize it first and then post.

Amazing photos!:thumbsup2 This is the perfect example of the fact that there's always something else out there to make you drool!!!;)

6400ISO... f/1.4... you must be able to take (hand-held) photographs of things it's too dark to see!

Very fine shots

I haven't had to resort to 6400 on my D300... yet. But here's a couple examples at 3200 with no external noise processing added. I've only adjusted levels, resized, and applied some edge sharpening:

Geoff M.......Those are nice for sure. Definitely better than my D80 at ISO3200. I'm curious as to which lens you were using as well. That first one is a great capture getting the puck as it enters the net.

I used my "bread-n-butter" lens: Nikkor 80-200mm f2.8 AF-D. IIRC, 1/1,000 sec at f2.8

I just bought this lens a few days ago. That first shot is amazing- looks like you could read what is on the puck in the full size file.

Someone at the office just brought in his new D300. It's just disturbing. It's just too good in too many ways. And don't get me started on the stupid D3. It's not even real.

Great pictures!!

My husband is not going to be happy when I tell him I need to upgrade from my D50!! :rotfl:

ETA: I just saw the price of the D300 and my D50 will have to last me for quite a long time!! Maybe if I win the lottery. ;)
