This is what has kind of put me in a bind in that Daisies is a no fundraising year, period. First year of Brownies, we sell cookies in the spring, so no fundraising until then. So basically, our troop has no money until the third year.
Our daisies can not fundraise either.
For brownies our cookie sales are in jan/feb with money coming in march. I would bank roll our troop and pay myself back with the cookie proceeds. (save all your receipts). We asked for $25 each half. Some parents paid all of it at once and some paid when they could. This helps with start up costs. We paid for pins and badges, parents paid for vests or sashes. It still is a pretty good deal considering the cost of other afterschool activities.
We had to prepay for a trip earlier this year with the expectation that we would get money back after cookie sales. When it came time for reimbursment money was kept back for any back dues. I thought that was a great idea.
Do not continue to pay for all these girls! Do want troop funds allow and if you are willing to kick in a little extra that is fine. You do not want to start resenting being a leader. If your current co-leader can't do what is necessary start shopping around for another. Things will be easier with the proper help and a lot of parents are willing to help if given something to do.
