One I lost and the other one the lady who made it wouldn't share the recipe :(

The one I lost was for overnight french toast. You make it the night before in a dish, cover it, refrigerate overnight and then bake it in the morning. All I can remember is that it had bread, milk, eggs and cinnamon in it.

The other was from the church I used to attend. The Pastor's wife made this really good apple dumpling type dessert but wouldn't share the recipe. It's not a dumpling like I've ever made though. There was a cinnamon-y and brown sugar tasting sauce on the bottom of an 8 X 8 pan, sliced apples on top of that and then covering that was a biscuit like topping. I think it might have had cinnamon it too. That's all I have to go on with that. She said it was really easy to make, common ingredients and you could freeze right in the pan after you baked it. Any ideas?

Thanks for your help! I'm in the mood to do some baking now that the weather is cooling if off -- at least here it is. And since we picked apples last weekend both crispers in our fridge are full so I need to use those up.

I can't help with the french toast but I do have an easy apple recipe. It doesn't have the bottom you mentioned but the top is biscuit-like. It is super easy and very tasty! Here goes:

APPLE SOMETHING (no kidding, that's the name of it)

4 to 5 large apples
Sugar & cinnamon to taste
1 stick butter or margarine
1 Cup flour
1Cup sugar
1 Egg

Cut up apples into a 9-inch pie dish. Sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon to taste. Melt butter and add flour, sugar and egg. Mix together and spread over apples. Bake 40 to 45 minutes at 350 degrees.

That's all there is to it. I made it yesterday and there is only one slice left!

Here's a French Toast recipe I have used :)

Belle0101 ha I too had a friend who didn't care to share a recipe Later found out she didn't actually bake it Maybe it was from a mix or a bakery & she didn't want to admit it was 'not from scratch'

Allie322 -- thank-you so much for the recipe. It was delicious!! I had my kids help me make it and then we all had huge servings of it! I put it in an 8 X 8 pan, worked out just fine. My DH kept raving about, had seconds and now we only have one piece left! I'm thinking it might taste really good for breakfast.

Meriweather -- thanks for your recipe too. I plan on making that tonight for breakfast tomorrow morning. I can't wait to try it.

Rebecca12345 -- She had gotten the recipe from a lady at the last church her DH pastored at. She would make it for special people -- if you had surgery, long illness, new baby -- and then deliver it to your home. That's a really nice thing to do but just puzzling as to why she would never share. Maybe she thought if she shared then it wouldn't be special anymore -- who knows.

But I have Allie322 recipe now and that is so unbelievably good!!

That's pretty funny, I have the same recipe as Allie322 and LOVE it, I actually just sent it off in my recipe swap.
I've also made if with peaches and it's very good!!!

For DonaldDuckFan....This may be a dumb question but do you peel the peaches first? I've never made peach anything so I'm just not sure. In fact, I only recently had peach pie for the first time! Peaches were not popular in our house growing up and it was just one of those foods that I never really used.
