Island Tower Opening Days…

So who’s going those first few days?!

We’ve had our December trip planned for a few months, staying at CCV from the 8th-14th, but my FOMO couldn’t handle the pressure of being so close to the opening and just missing it by a few days. So, of course, I’ve done the crazy thing and extended our trip by another 4 days lol and booked opening night in a duo studio SV. I would have preferred the TPV but we decided to change our plans a few days after bookings opened and surprisingly TPV sold out before SV. I guess cash buyers are a different breed than us point misers I’ll attempt to book that same using points when we’re finally able to, but I have a feeling it’ll be very difficult.

On another note, it seems like there’s still a decent amount of rooms still available online- I wonder if that will effect how much they will initially declare into the association and how much the starting cost/incentives will be

We'll wait for point reservations, and for them to work out the kinks before we give it a try! But we will definitely give it a try at some point. I wouldn't go near it for grand opening!!

Yeah this might be a one and done grand opening experience but we were going to be there anyway (kind of lol) so we’re going to slightly lower our expect and just hope it’s a fun atmosphere

I’m going to attempt booking the same night with points but I’m not expecting much success. We’re going for marathon week too so I’ll see if I can book some days then, too.

Sometimes you just have to go to be part of it!! Like New Year's Eve on Times Square or the Vegas Strip - just want to be there!

Would love to be there but can’t justify the cost of a flight from the UK! Will definitely be using points at the first opportunity though!

Yeah that’s fair, I’m not sure it would have been worth the cost of a flight from NYC if I didn’t already have a trip booked for that timeframe, let alone all the way from the UK

I have our last night booked at VGF, but if we can get it at the tower, we will move it! Our first three nights will remain at RiV.

Just two of us, so we can do a studio or a 1 bedroom, but will move to a 2 bedroom if that is all we can get!

I stayed opening night at the Grand Floridian Villas in a one bedroom using points. Everything was perfect - no kinks to work out. The room was beautiful. If I could stay at the new Island Tower using points for the opening week I would, but it doesn't line up with the trip I have planned in early December. The good news is I don't have to worry about trying to get a reservation! Hopefully I can try it out next year.
