Island Tower at Polynesian Villas & Bungalows

Not a silly question!

I think the plans, thus far, have indicated no bus stops at the tower (ref: https://dvcnews.com/resorts/polynes...vealed-for-new-dvc-tower-at-polynesian-resort).

But there are plans to redo the Poly entrance overall, especially for buses, likely including updated bus stops near the existing bus stops: https://blogmickey.com/2024/05/disn...ntrance-to-disneys-polynesian-village-resort/
Not a fan of a roundabout through that interseciton. Traveled through there yesterday and lots of folks speeding through the intersection to be first. Maybe it will work when it's complete but I rather see an under/overpass.

Here it is... the new & improved Island Tower 2.0 with monorail and skyliner service to theme parks. Because these had to go through the portals, direct zipline access has been relocated to the roof. Also, the Fort Wilderness cabins that were considered to go in those portals will now be over-the-water cabinalows.

Sweet. I can roll out of my hammock and zip over to MK. Now that's direct access to a park. Those rooms will go as fast as the value rooms at AKL.

I decided to look at a couple dates to see what the cash booking availability is showing.

December 17 (opening night):
  • All duo studios (all views) are booked
  • All penthouse 2BR are booked
  • All bungalows are booked
  • Everything else is available at PVB
December 31 (New Years Eve so WDW is packed):
  • All duo studios (all views) are booked
  • All tower deluxe studio standard view are booked
  • All 1BR (all views) are booked
  • All 2BR theme park view are booked
  • All penthouse 2BR are booked
  • All longhouse studios are booked
  • All bungalows are booked
Bungalows and longhouses may be booked from DVC points, so that may explain no cash booking availability.

I wish Disney would release some details on the number of rooms in each category.

Looking to book a trip for late January. I've been to Poly but never stayed there. I may see what availability looks like at 7 months. We're more of a Epcot, HS group, so typically we stay at BWV or BCV when we can. Home is SSR. We're new DVC members, but have booked exclusively DVC rooms first through Disney (uggh, didn't know any better) then years of renting. We'd like to check out staying at Poly. My biggest hesitation is when we've been there for breakfasts and such it just seems so crowded.

So just to confirm, everything is sold out at stratospheric prices? (Aside from whatever rooms have been held back for DVC)

Excluding the original PVB rooms because they may have been filled using points.

Dec 17, we know the tower duos and both penthouses that are not available were booked for cash at the high prices. ().
Dec 31, we know the tower duos, 1BRs, 2BR, and penthouses all booked at the high cash prices (not available to book using points).

Only reason I'm looking at these is to try to see what is popular for cash. I really expected tower standard view studios to book up, but not knowing how many there are makes it hard to tell how popular they are.

Seems like a good business strategy to me, then sale points at the gently used PolyTower
I agree. Disney knows this is a super popular time of year. Make money for the end of December and spring on cash. Moana 2 comes out late November. If the movie is even decent, lots of reason for Disney to promote the tower for cash.

Riviera and Aulani rooms for cash has been a very profitable strategy.

We have no idea how many of the rooms were offered for cash stays. Everything they put up for cash in certain room types are gone, but it doesn't mean that they offered everything outside of what they will initially declare.

For example, maybe there are 34 duo rooms (making it up) and they plan to only declare 5 to start...that doesn't mean they offered 29 for cash to start...maybe they only offered 15 for now....

All we know is that the inventory released by Disney got taken!

I would guess that they held back rooms to comp to some of the imagineers and executives that worked on the project.

I don’t know if this was posted, but that’s one tiny pool! Just thinking it’ll feel like a giant bathtub in the summer!
Reminds me of the pool at ASM with fancier furniture. Not kidding. But are those two narrow sections on the side accessible pool entry or a lazy river?!?!?!

Surely we can all agree this looks like the pool for a random generic small scale timeshare?

::ducks behind pony wall::

In all seriousness, I assume it will have nicer views of the lagoon from the hotel side…but why is THIS the pic they would feature?

I agree. It looks lovely, but also I swam at that pool at a beach resort in Del Mar, and Sand Key, and Panama City, and Newport Beach, and frankly at just a nice hotel in San Antonio too.

It doesn’t look very Disney. At least not from that angle.
