Island Tower at Polynesian Villas & Bungalows

I love the rooms. For me, they look bright and relaxing (what I want in a hotel) with the right mix of Disney touches. I was really hoping the tower was going to be a new association and would have bought if it was. Being the same association gives me some pause to buy points directly, but I love that 1BR! Looking forward to seeing the points chart.

Is there a standard view? Do you mind saying which dates so we can comparison shop other rack rates?
Sorry, I didn't ask about standard.

Perhaps if looking at the VGF parking lot?

I prefer the longhouses and the tiki look, but this Tower is gonna kill RIV sales. The rooms are stunning for the new look they're doing.

The best looking since RIV in my opinion.

It certainly will outperform them the first few months, regardless of pricing…it will be interesting after that to see how DVD plays with incentives for both RIV and CFW come fall.

For someone who toys with more RiV points, I’d love for them to get more aggressive for 100 points or less!

Okay, so at least 3 views confirmed between @randc and @tx911 booking experiences:
  • Theme Park View
  • Preferred View
  • Standard View
Pretty much what we expected. If Preferred View is aligned with the Lake View and Standard View is aligned with Standard View from the longhouses, then that allows them to reach into higher points charts with Theme Park View, similar to what they did with TPV at Grand Flo 2.

Love the design of these rooms! You can really tell how much thought went into every little detail of the room designs with their pops of Moana IP. This is a complete 180 from the full refurb they just did at the boardwalk!

I know the design is a far cry from the 60s and 70s tiki culture you see at the original Polynesian rooms, but this tower design is much more on brand with any high end Hawaiin/Polynesian hotels you’ll find on the islands today. While it may not be everyone’s cup of tea for those who long for a more caricature style tiki theme, it will be loved by most, and will be an easy sell for Disney. These rooms provide a modern, luxurious island vibe while being a 5 minute walk to 60s era tiki theming. The poly resort now has the best of both worlds
There are two types of people: those who’ve been to the Islands (the more often and longer the better) and appreciate how much more authentic this style is to actual Island life and decor, and those who think that anything that doesn’t look like Don the Beachcomber in Marina del Rey, circa 1966 (which is exactly where the Imagineers likely hung out for their inspiration), is a thematic sellout.

Another term I heard was sunset view. Thought that was the monorail side (so SV may have dual meaning).

Outstanding comment, 10/10.

My only concern with these is that they might age poorly.

Studios sleep four and only have showers. They do not have tub/shower combo. Could this possibly put more pressure on original longhouses or 1 BRs? In addition, 2nd bathroom in 1 BR is shower only which differs from Kidani and BLT.

And those point charts are going to be helluva expensive lol
Points chart inflation is a myth that has been debunked many, many times.

Points charts have not gotten more expensive over time. They APPEAR to have gotten more expensive over time because the newer resorts have also tended to be the more premium resorts (e.g. monorail and Skyliner).

In terms of "how many dollars of rack rate you save when using a DVC point," the only outliers are Old Key West and Boardwalk Standard View, which are both "too cheap."

DVC has gotten more expensive because they've raised the purchase price per point. They haven't increased the points demand per night.
