Island Tower at Polynesian Villas & Bungalows

Agreed, I'm liking that it looks somewhat more upscale. It fills a niche that Poly really didn't have before. It has QS covered with Captain Cook's, casual table service with Kona, O'hana for it's buffet/character dining. I hope its offerings make it the top restaurant for Poly.
You don’t think captain cooks is already pretty crowded? I feel like it’s a madhouse in there around 7am-9am, but maybe I’m overreacting. Just worried that the new tower will push it to the breaking point if the tower doesn’t have its own version of quick service.

I didn't say it's not crowded, I said Poly doesn't have a really nice sit down table service as things currently stand. There isn't a restaurant at Poly that matches the quality at Citrico's or Narcoossee's nextdoor currently. I just hope that the new restaurant is a higher end restaurant. Ideally it would get a QS too or at least somewhere to grab a quick bite but I don't think that's happening.

@tjkraz has a new article on DVCNews after he analyzed the declarations blue prints.
https://dvcnews.com/wdw-resorts/polynesian/5976-poly-info

He caught something that I don't believe has been talked about here.
The second floor has an upper lobby lounge. See Tim's article to see his information.
I was wondering what the weird wooden mushroom thing was supposed to be... this makes so much more sense now. I wonder why they got rid of the balcony area but not the weird umbrella/mushroom for it? It kind of looks odd on it's own - nothing else seems to tie in with it. I wish that 2nd floor lounge was still a thing.

Apologies if clarified previously but will there be a bar / food offering at the tower pool? We actually really like the vibe and food offering at the oasis pool so was hoping for something similar.

Restaurant looks like what you'd find in a high end Vegas casino floor...I particularly like that a lot. Giving me some ritzy Hawaii vibes. This is going to be a fun place to stay
Too bad staying there has no effect on your ability to dine at that nice restaurant.

I’m in agreement with you 100%. Poly absolutely needed a fine dining option for dinner, especially with the importance of seafood in Hawaiian/Polynesian culture. Grand Floridian has 3 fine dining options, Contemporary has 2 options, and Poly has 0, so I’m very happy to see this. Just somewhat concerned that all of these rooms being added to the tower will now flood into captain cooks for breakfast if there isn’t some sort of quick service option at the tower.

If I could purpose an operational wish list for this new Island Tower restaurant...

1. A nice table service Breakfast, similar to Grand Floridian Cafe. Maybe limited to inside tables only.
2. A nice, but more casual, Lunch service with a small and unique menu. Thinking like Geyser Point Bar & Grill, of course.
3. A more upscale Dinner service, closer to Narcoossee's level. Possibly making it a Disney Signature Dining experience.
4. To-Go options for all three meal services.

Last, but definitely not least.... (drum roll please)

5. Room Service from this restaurant to all Island Tower rooms during the restaurant's full operating hours!
.... From breakfast in bed to dinner on the balcony watching the fireworks!

I have my fingers crossed!

I feel like this is the dream scenario! I can do without room service and to-go, but #1-3 are sort of a must in my opinion.

Question for those that know more than me....given that this is an admended association and that DVD (in theory) owns some Poly points from the existing units - any chance that when this goes on sale that existing owners could get any current UY bankable points? (Example: I have September UY, if this goes on sale this month, any chance I could get 2023 points to bank into 2024?) Super long shot dream scenario - but just pondering the possibilities over my morning coffee this AM.

When they sold BPK, they only sold units in the new building..no contracts for the original VGF.

My guess is they will do the same with PVB tower and that all new contracts will come from there.

It would honestly make no sense to do it any other way.

Is today the last day to apply the $1,000 Visa card holder discount to a purchase of 150 points or more at an actively-selling property?

I wonder if it will be like Palm Breeze at VDH. You can walk up and sit at the bar, or wait/book a table, or go to the back counter to order to go. They also have a separate pool menu where you can order from the servers there.

Is the Visa incentive something that usually happens often? I want more points but I’m not really ready right now.

I don’t remember it happening but a handful of times over the years…though more so in the past 5 years than before that.
