Floors 9 and 10 have what we assume are four total 2 bedroom penthouses. The odd part is floor 10’s 2 bedroom penthouse’s main balcony is about half the size of floor 9’s balcony, and so floor 10 has a direct view onto the oversized balcony below. It’s just an odd setup given this was a blank canvas to work with.

Oh wow! Thats so strange! Curious the thought process behind this and how this would work in regard who gets assigned which penthouse if this is the case! I know I would obviously want the larger balcony as I'm sure most other families would want as well.

Although if you have the larger balcony you are overlooked by the one above! So I’m not sure I would want that one… purely hypothetical though as my Poly points won’t stretch to a penthouse in any event!

Very odd, having someone up over with a full view of your patio, no privacy for a penthouse especially for the cost.

Maybe they’re going to add some type of extended sun/shade canopy extension thingy to it?

My guess here is either:

• They modeled it in some 3D software and having a giant 10th floor balcony felt dark and claustrophobic to the guests on the 9th floor, so they shortened the 10th floor balcony to find some 'good for both' middleground
• AND/OR
• There might also be some structural strength stuff in play here? Not my expertise but it would have to be a very large 'free floating' balcony and maybe safety margin won out.

I look forward to finding out if these highlighted areas are accessible for everyone or only key access for the 9th floor. If it is 9th floor only, the guests with preferred view can walk out to the lagoon side for spectacular views.

Since the monorail side is labeled roof, might these be only for CMs and not guests?

lol, I thought maybe you heard about a press release at that precise time.

With last week being a bunch of DCL releases, I wonder if they release something before D23? I still believe D23 needs to be parks and movies because everything else will be drowned out by that information (or lack of).

DVC before D23 would be allow guests to stop by the booth and ask. It would also increase hype for Disney. Or releasing info after D23 would keep any Disney hype going into the fall.

Does anyone know if when we can start booking (during poly owners window), we’d be able to use other resort points to book a stay within 7mo? Or will they make it so you have to use Poly points at first? I always seem to be well out of Poly points lol

Yes. And the reason was because it was considered a modified “home resort” period so using other points would defeat that purpose.
