Island Hopping: A Highly Inappropriate TR. (Boom.)-- Link to NEW TR! 10/8

I'm joining in! I just read your last TR, which was great! Can't wait to read all about this trip

Awwwwwwwwwwww!!!! I love the first haircut pics!! Makes me tear up...my oldest had blonde curls, and he looked like such a big boy when he got his first cut! Thanks for sharing, and bringing back sweet memories! :)
I tear up looking at other families, too! Everyone has those certain magical memories they can relate to and relive:goodvibes.

oh gosh I hate when mickey's philharmagic is packed with people in the waiting area and I'm not a little kid with sensory issues! you are lucky to use the alternate entrance!
I know! It can (and usually does) get really crowded in there. Honestly, the doors were nearly opening when we arrived, so we might have been okay standing in the group, but you can never be too cautious. Once a meltdown is about to happen, there's no going back:scared:.

Oh my goodness, Sawyer looks adorable with his haircut! I just love how you captured the whole thing.

I don’t think the haircut prices are too bad, especially for Disney! And plus you get five zillion Mickey stickers and a hat :thumbsup2 I kind of want to make an appointment to get my haircut...
I think the prices are great, especially considering the hat AND that they do a great job and are so entertaining and nice while they do it! My girls got regular haircuts later in the trip, and those prices are good, too. I just love that place.

While the new flatbreads sound delicious to me, I can't imagine that a kid would agree. That's weird that they changed the kids pizza too. Love the pics of Sawyer with his yogurt spoon.

That's great that you got to go to an empty area before Philharmagic! I get a little claustrophobic, and those areas kill me!

How sweet are those first haircut photos? I think that must be one of the hidden gems of WDW. And so inexpensive! Sawyer looked very handsome (and a lot like Julia) after his big boy cut. Glad for you that the curls are coming back though. :goodvibes
I'm not sure they kid-tested the flatbreads before implementing them. I don't think they would have passed.
It is really a hidden gem! Even without appointments in the past, we've had no trouble getting in. People must just think it's a facade!:confused3

Yup, you've confirmed it! PVH is definitely going to happen in January! And hooray for helpful cast members! I always love the cast members who are kind and considerate, and actually go the extra mile.

What a great first haircut experience! And once again, yay for good Disney employees!

As for your next steps, the Emporium and the Confectionary are both day 1 visits for us, though the Confectionary I try to go to on my way out of the park, since by that point I'm usually full and less tempted to buy 50,000 things.
Great minds and all:thumbsup2...

I have to say, I really do like Disney pizza, but I also liked the flatbread, I just wanted some more balsamic on it haha. I do like the food at PVH though, really good!

Adorable first haircut! That's so awesome that all the kids have had their first haircut there, a great idea!
I had enough balsamic, but I thought it could have used more basil. Then again, I LOVE basil! I sort of wished I had more tomatoes, but that was just because Sawyer kept eating mine:rotfl:!

I'm joining in! I just read your last TR, which was great! Can't wait to read all about this trip
:welcome: Thanks for reading the last TR and for following this one! I promise that this one will involve NO ILLNESS, so by default it must be more fun:yay:!

GREAT pictures! I have never even been inside PVH. I will have to be sure to take a look next trip.

Pinocchio's looks pretty good. I'm glad that the alt. entrance for worked so well for you guys. Sounds like the GAC paid off early. :thumbsup2. Some of the pics of the haircut look very 'Norman Rockwell'. Sawyer looks like such a grown up boy post-haircut! Connor's cut is probably going to be more ceremonial than anything. Faith has never had a haircut in a salon before (just Grandma cutting off her mullet-yes, she had a mullet when her hair finally came in) and she has expressed interest in doing one when we're down there, too. Does that count as a first haircut, too? :scratchin

Hi there :goodvibes I'm enjoying your report! Your kids are so cute. Great pictures. I don't have any kids yet, but I can remember when my baby brother (I'm 10 years older) got his first hair cut and cut off all those golden curls...it was a sad day. lol but its good Sawyer's grew back!! Looking forward to next update. -Amanda

Just found your TR, and I'm totally in love with Brynn !
Our best friends have a daughter with Aspergers, I just planned and went with them on a WDW trip in April ! I am also an avid amature photographer, I use a Canon T1i and for years used an AE1 ! Brynn's photo is beautiful !
I've only read the introduction but will read the rest of the TR right away !

You know, I've never eaten at PVH. I keep forgetting it is even there, someday we'll make it over. I think DS would love watching the IASM boats, any restaurant with built in entertainment is good with me! :thumbsup2

It sounds like that GAC really came in handy with Philharmagic! In all honesty those attractions with "cattle call" type waiting rooms were a huge pitfall during our trip too. DS just seems to get so over stimulated in those environments that all he wants to do is run around, wave his arms in the air or roll on the floor- all big no-nos in a crowd situation. I'm glad you were able to avoid all that, because I know how difficult it is!

The pics of Saywers first haircut are just precious! They so such a wonderful job there and it is such a steal! We did DS's first haircut there (and many more since) and I'm hoping to do the same for new baby. Its such a wonderful tradition!

your pictures are just awesome makes me a bit sad that I am not able to go with my daughter for our planned Thanksgiving trip this year. I have to wait a while to experience all the new FLE for next year.

I may or may not have teared up when I read about Sawyer's first haircut. :rolleyes1 If the January trip happens I so want to go there with Peanut! When she was born she had so much hair that I thought for sure she'd have enough to get a haircut at 6 months, but she keeps losing it! She has big bold patches on the back of her head. :(

Pinocchio's is so fun!

Aww, such cute pictures. Sawyer is adorable with or without his baby hair!

He looks like such a big boy with his new haircut! Times like those are so bittersweet!

After a brief absence from the Dis, I'm back and all caught up with your TR! Rather than take notes and comment on each installment, I just want to say that your TR...your children, photos, and writing style...just makes me SO DARN HAPPY!!

Awww...Sawyers first hair cut pictures... You will totally treasure them... There's. something about little boys haircuts...they are so little still but there's just a hint of the big boy/man they're going to grow up to be... The whole thing is so poignant...

Omg... You know that look Julia is giving you is a preview of the teenage years right? I think it's great you tried to shush them though...it's really important they know you think it's important to be conscious of others ... I'm big on that... Why do some parents pretend they don't see their kids causing mass chaos and confusion...?

I've always thought that Pinochios was pretty darn cute inside...

It's so awesome that all of your kids had their first haircuts there! My dd had her first cut there too, but she was 3 at the time! It's easier to wait for a haircut for a girl :)

Honestly I think the first haircut is one of the best values at WDW too, $18 plus tip for a wonderful experience, certificate, and the keepsake ears! I was surprised at how low the price was when we went :)

I'm new to these boards and stumbled upon your TR. I am very excited to read all about your trip. My son Dylan is autistic and we are planning a trip for February. I'm sure he will love it but it will be great to hear how your daughter did with the crowds and the noise so I cannot wait to read more. You have a beautiful family and it looks like your trip was amazing! The pictures are awesome by the way :thumbsup2

I love how each one of the kids had their first haircut there....great memories to have! The pictures brought a tear to my eye as I know only too well how quickly the years pass!

I just found your TR and I love it. Your have a beautiful family. The pictures are amazing and I love how the pictures captures each child's personality. Julia is taking after her Daddy with her camera skills. Her picture for the contest was awesome.

Oh my goodness I had tears in my eyes looking at the haircut pictures! I hope I can do this for my kids! Such an awesome tradition!

The PVH flat bread looks great! I love Capri stlye so it looks right up my alley! We have have to try PVH next trip!!

Keep the updates coming! I'm actually going to attempt to finally get my TR going today! :rotfl:

PVH looks really good, I'm not sure why, but we've never been there! :confused3

OMG the pics of Sawyer and his first haircut are too cute! I love that they gave you his hair and everything, and they gave him Mickey ears! It's crazy how just cutting off a baby's hair can turn him into a little boy!

Your lunch at PVH sounds really good!!! Agreed about the flatbreads, they do just look annoying to eat!!!

Sawyer's haircut is so cute!!!! I love the first haircut ceremony they have there, it's so special and precious!! :goodvibes
