Mine is :) I never liked my name growing up. I was born in 1977, and the name was a little 'older' than me. I knew very few people with the name, and the ones that I did know were at least 10 years older than me. While browsing the DIS I have noticed a lot of Karens. So, show yourselves Karens of the world!

:teeth:

My best friend's name is Karen. I never really thought of her name being old. She is ten years older than me though, so maybe she just fit her name?

BTW, my name is Marie, and while a very popular middle name, I really have never seen anyone younger than me named Marie. Wait!....about two years ago, at Wal-Mart a girl of about 17 was a cashier, he name tag said Marie, and I was surprised. I asked her if her name was really Marie....LOL. She was the youngest I had seen with the name. I was also one of only two Marie's in my whole high school ( small Catholic School, but still).

::yes:: I'm Karen and I am 15yrs older than you.:o

SIL is 38 and she is Karen

My middle name is Marie. When I was in 5th grade, all but one girl in my class had the name Marie.

One of my best friends from high school named her little girl Marie - she is about 5 now.

Denae :sunny:

This is funny.. my middle name is Marie too.. Donna Marie

I always hated my name. Most people named Donna I have known were usually at least 20 years older than me. i was born in the 70s

I was born in 1959 and my name is Karen. When I was in grade school I didn't know any other Karens. There were 3 of us in my high school graduating class (out of 187). I know a few Karen's who are in high school now so it seems to have made a bit of a comeback.

I like my name better with my married name than I did with my maiden name.

My name is Karen and I was born in '58. Most people seem to pronounce my name "cairn" but that's all right with me. I married a guy with a Scandinavian last name and my name sounds very pretty now! Growing up in a German community, there were lots of Karen's around. Thanks for this thread it's given me some food for thought.

I'm on another board and there are 2 women in their early 30's named Karen. I also use to work with a 30-something woman named Karen.

Everyone I've ever met who has my name is around the same age as me. I don't think anyone uses the name Melinda anymore.

No my name is not Karen, it's Kim and I too was born in 1977 :)

another Karen here!! I won't give my exact birthdate, but I graduated from high school a year after you were born!

Karen

Karen here, born in 1968. I had quite a few Karens in my classes growing up, never less than 2!

I guess it was pretty popular in 1968!

Karen checking in!!! :p

I was born in 1971. At one time I worked in an office of about 150 people and about 10 of us were named Karen. That's when I learned just how popular my name is for people in my age group and up to about 15 years older.

Anyone know any June's? I plugged in June and Junie at got this reply...

The name June is not among the top 1,000 female names for years 1990-2003.

Poor Junie B. Jones LOL

My SIL's name is Karen, she was born in 1969. But truth be told, she's not one of my favorite people - but not because her name is Karen.:p

My sister's name is Kerrin, not Karen. Everyone messes up her name and calls her Karen, so I would assume she dislikes the name as well.

My name is Eileen, also an older name. (middle name is Marie too!)While I was growing up the only people I knew with my name were my mother, my aunt, and the various other Irish ladies that my parents hung out with.

No one my age, even now! So I know how you feel!!!

Another Karen here too, born in 1976. I never thought my name to be older than me, although I was the only Karen in a school with over 900 girls! However there are 3 Karens at my work place out of 20 women!!

My daughter's name is Karen... she is 9. I never thought of it as an "older" name, it is just the one that both my DH and I liked. I have to say, however, that we call her Kari, and she started using that in school as well this year!

I'm another Karen, and I was born in 1972. I have a cousin Karen who was born about five or six years after me. Oh, and my middle name is Marie :)

Karen

I'm not a Karen, but when people who don't know me well get confused and call me the wrong name, it's ALWAYS Karen...

I don't know if I LOOK like a Karen or if Karen's just too close to Kathy. :scratchin
