I would like know if everyones iphone is getting hot being used during the day. its all over the web, people saying when they updated there iphone to 3.0. update. they have notice the phones getting very warm or hot. people are saying it could be a hardware or software prb.

I haven't noticed that at all, but could be wrong. Keep us posted! :)

I haven't noticed this, but then again my phone is in a case all the time.

Mine does too and it happened before/and after 3.0.

I have a Froggz case on it and I've wondered if that led to the heat problem??

Mine has always done it. I have the original iPhone. It usually happens when I am charging it and using it at the same time.

I have 2 friends w/ the new 3Gs and they say they're definitely hot.

I have not noticed my upgraded to 3.0 3G getting warmer at all

Mine gets warm but I have a belkin rubbery case on the back. I'd expect it to be that way...

Is that out of the ordinary?

I have an original that I upgraded, and a 3G S. Neither has this problem, though I haven't used the original iPhone since I got the 3G S last Friday.

don't know if this will help you or not...but I have the 3G and not upgraded to 3.0 because I am afraid it will mess up my apps. I have had no issues with heat from mine.

Mine doesn't get overly hot, but it does get warm. I haven't noticed a difference after I upgraded.

It's in a hard case at pretty much all times. The ventilation is slightly decreased in that case, but given that I have a tendency to drop things, I'll take the decreased ventilation as a tradeoff for a still functional phone :thumbsup2

I manage the cell contracts for my company. We have over 100 cell lines, and out of those, roughly 30 are either iPhone 3G or 3Gs.
I have had some users comment about the phones getting hot, both before and after the update to 3.0.

We have had some issues with the 3Gs phones and battery life, as well as camera issues on them. Both phones that have issues also have a heat problem.

Hope that helps.

I bought my iPhone at AT&T. Can I still good to the apple store for repairs and a replacement if needed???

My 3G always get's warm when I've been using it constantly for an extended period of time such as surfing the web or listening to podcast's.

It doesn't get hot but certainly get's warm.

I took my original iphone back because it was getting hot. the apple store replaced it on the spot. the replacement would get warm when charging. my new 3g does get warm, but not like the first one. I would talk on the phone and end up with a hot red cheek.

Ouch newmouse!!!! Did you take the next call on the other side of your face. To even out the cheek mark lol. That good to know about the apple store. Thanks!!

I would expect that our iphones would run warm, realistically it's not just a phone but a mini-computer. Put your hand next to the back of your computer at home and you will notice that your computer is putting out some heat.

That being said, if your iphone is scalding hot then obviously that's a problem that Apple needs to address. Those of us who keep our iphones in a case 24/7 may not notice the increase in temperature. I use the Sedio Innocase II and I don't have any issue with heat.

it appears to be a bad batch of batteries. I have a new 3gs, had it since last Friday ( 1 week today), and it doesn't have the problem. I spend a lot of time surfing on it, which is one of the times it seems to show the problem. my old 3g never had the problem.

According to appleinsider.com, Apple has filed a patent to fix the problem.
