Hi! We bought OKW resale - and love it more than any other except for maybe SSR (which we then bought direct from Disney as add-ons).
These stand-alone resorts are far more tranquil than the DVC/hotel combinations - and I love the spawling grounds for leisure walks (excercise from a bit of walking harms no one)! Both resorts also have 4 pools (3 quiet, 1 family), 4 jacuzzi tubs and dedicated bus service that does not pick up "hotel guests" as well, which means you get mainly DVCers on the buses. I find that all these touches make for a better experience at the stand-alone resorts.
We might book other resorts from time to time (we've already done WLV, BCV and VBR, just to try them), but we'd much rather focus our stays on our home resorts. These resorts are good, but my heart is attached to our home resorts. We bought wisely.
Funny you made a comment about the dining . . . I seem to have a problem with many of the hotel restaurants (OKW's Olivia's, SSR's Turf Club, and WL's Whispering Canyon) all being the noisiest meals in all of WDW . . . and with mediocre service at best. Funny that I've had the exact opposite with
Disneyland's hotel restaurants! WDW really seems to have issues with hotel restaurants (except for the ones in the monorail hotes). Oh well . . . we can always do counter-service or go visit other places to eat between the parks and DTD.
