Is Your Home Resort Your Favorite

Related to the "rate the resorts thread" - is your home resort the most appealling resort to you?

Our 3 homes are the most appealing to us, and we are MOST LIKELY to use the points at the given homes. BWV (250), VB (150), VWL (175).

Since we are very likely to have family along as guests we sometimes have to wait until the 7 month mark to get us all at the same resort. This has worked for us, so far. We switch December visits from BWV to VWL year to year, and so, I just cannot go and borrow all VWL points for our family visits, we need to have some VWL points to book for December 11 months out, when it's VWL's year in December('07 next).

I also like to spend 1-3 nights at BCV during swimming weather months, and we did try OKW's 1 bedroom once and found it amazing. SSR appeals to me more than DH, so we won't be spending more nights there unless it's what's available, and that really will be more than satisfactory.

Things would be different if we were raising our children now, and could only make 1 trip a year, but we go often, down to Florida 4-6 times a year for 3-6 night stays. We probably are not "typical."

It's all we have stayed at for DVC but I have to say that it has everything we need and want in a vaction home.

Yes we will hit the others (BCV in June) but if something happened and we always had to stay at SSR we would be more then fine with that.

Appealling doesn't mean "you've stayed at them all" - you can find something appealling without having actually experienced it.

(Of course, having experienced it, you may then find it disappointing in that it doesn't live up to expectations - but this is about appeal, not necessarily preference)

For me yes, SSR is my favorite. For DH no, he likes OKW the best.

OKW, VWL and BWV are my home resorts. very happy with them!

I voted "yes" because VWL is my favorite - however, I haven't stayed at any of the other DVC resorts! Maybe this will change over time? Most of the resorts do hold some appeal for me - SAB at BCV, the Boardwalk at BWV, Downtown Disney proximity at SSR and AKV b/c it will be brand new - but, I just love the theming and isolation of VWL.

I can say it definitely is now. That's because when we first bought, we had a different home resort. Then when DH found his favorite, we did the buy/sell thing so that he can be one of those "fanatical OKW people" (DVC salesperson's words!). We also have an add-on at BCV, my favorite, for my solo trips.

Good try, Bobbi, on the secret hidden agenda behind the poll, but it isn't the seven month window I'm trying to figure out.

(Anyone who has followed me posting knows when I do an OP of this sort of theorectical nature, I'm trying to prove a hypothesis - or as much as I can under the circumstances of the board - I'll disclose later.)

BTW, we own at BWVs - and I'm very content there, we have never stayed anywhere else and I don't know how likely we are to try to switch in the near future. But the resort that holds the most appeal for me is VWL. The only thing I don't like about VWL is that is isn't walking distance to Epcot.

BWV is my home and my overall favorite BUT I also love OKW.

We've stayed everywhere but SSR and HH and I can say that yes Boardwalk is not on our home but our favorite!

We bought at HH because it was the least expensive. We've only stayed there 2 nights after a DCL cruise in January. We also own some points at VB because of a deal they were promoting at the time. We have never stayed there. We have no trouble booking at the WDW resorts at 7 months out, and those are our preferences right now. I love the location of the BWV, but the space and points chart of OKW.

The answer is a resounding yes!! VWL and BWV are resorts we enjoy the most.

Okay...I'll take a guess. You see these "rate the resorts" and "which resort is best" polls/threads and you hypothesize that people overwhelmingly vote for their home resort as the best. Close?

I know that's my hypothesis anyway. So those polls really just end up being the same as "where do you own points?".

The only thing I don't like about VWL is that is isn't walking distance to Epcot.

Sure it is. Make sure you pack a lunch though!

Yep, maybe not overwhelmingly (or BCV would not be scoring so high), but my hypothesis is that the results are skewed to favor home resorts. Not that this is bad - I think its great that people seem overwhelmingly so tickled with what they own - but that will make the bigger resorts skew higher in popularity.

I bought most of my points at my favourite resort - OKW - and have added on small amounts of points at both VB and BWV. The last one because I like a few days with a Boardwalk view every few years - I definitely wouldn't stay there if I couldn't guarantee that view.

For anyone who votes for their home resort whilst constantly playing the 7-month switch game ..... maybe it is as much to do with justifying their (costly) decision to themselves as "ownership pride"?
