OMGosh, I was just talking to a friend of mine about this! DS13 had been wanting an iPod for awhile. His class was getting ready to go on a week-end field trip to Atlanta which is about 5 hours from here. I asked DS if he still needed an iPod.
He said " well, I don't
NEED one."
I said, " I know you don't need one to survive, but do you still want one to take on your trip?"
His reply, "yeah, but I don't
NEED it."
What the' ???
Then, the day before the trip he asked if we could go to Barnes and Noble so he could get a Halo book to read on the way. So we did. The morning of the trip, I told him not to forget his book. He said," just put it in the suitcase"
I said, " I thought you wanted to read it on the way?'
He said, "No just pack it"
I said, "when do you plan on reading it? You're not going to be in the room enought to read so why even bother taking it?" I packed it thinking "whatever

"
When we got in the car go to the school (they were leaving at 6:45 am!), he starts fumbling around trying to dig it out of the suitcase. I didn't say anything or act like I noticed what he was doing. I guess it was all because I had reminded him about the book.
Geez what's going on! What kills me is that he doesn't even realize I shelled out $200 for the iPod and made a last minute out-of-the-way tip to B&N just so he'd have a good time on his trip which cost $380 just to go on! Yes, I know he's only 13 and his brain doesn't work that way yet, but come on!
