Is Wishes Dessert Party a "must do"?

Hello:
This will be my families first trip to WDW! We are so excited...I've been reading about the wishes dessert party. I found a time available for a night we will be there. I've seen alot of people trying and trying to get ressies for it. Is this something we should definitely not miss? Also, the ressies I could get are for 9:15pm...is this time too late to really enjoy it?

Personally I don't think it's a "must do". We went not long after they started them, I guess it was October '09. It was OK. The desserts were good. You do have a view of the fireworks but it's not the best angle. You aren't looking straight on so the fireworks look like they are off to the side instead of behind the castle. It was OK but I wouldn't bother doing it again. It was $75 for three of us, not sure if the prices have increased since then. I told DH for a few dollars more we could've had a full TS meal.

The best part of it was having a seat to wait on the fireworks and not just having to stand and wait. But not really worth the $$$$.

Based on your ages in your signature, I think this may be a really good choice for you. 11yo boys are not the type to sit for at least an hour just "sitting" and waiting for fireworks, at least not my son when he was 11.

It is pricey, it is something "special" that you add on. If you are already cutting your budget close then I wouldn't go over for it, but.....


We love it. I have have 5 times and still going. We have reservations for DS's 16th. bday. He loves it. The idea that the crowds are not all around, that it includes desserts galore, and that he can admire Tinkerbelle without huge groups around him.

Other people don't enjoy it as much as us. They will get a dessert from the Main Street Bakery or even a Hot Dog from Casey's and wait it out on the concrete.

It's all about what your family enjoys. You will get as many go for its as you will not worth the moneys.

Whatever you choose, I hope your vacation is everything you hoped it would be.

I don't think there is such a thing as a late ADR for this. Its just one "sitting" I think they space out the times a little just so everyone doesn't show up at the same time. Others who have gone should give you a better idea of how the seating works.

As for is it must do, nothing is really must do.

I myself at this point in my life do not think its worth it. Maybe if I get a raise and have more money some day I may think otherwise.

Personally I don't think it is a must do either.

For me it is an over priced, way to see the fireworks. I can see them perfectly well from the hub without having to pay. Besides you can't get your money's worth of dessert no matter how much you eat!! LOL

For your first time you may want to not be locked down to many "musts". All we did was plan dinner adrs and which park which day and rolled with it.
It was perfect.

Future trips are about fine tuning what you want to do. But go and enjoy your vacation....maybe see what it is about and next time do it.

Thanks y'all! Yea I didn't want too many "must dos" planned, because I've read the best thing to do is just go with the flow....We've made one ADR to Chef Mickey's and decided which parks we were going to on what days. Otherwise I think we're just going to wing it. We are staying offsite at Wyndham Bonnet Creek, so obviously we are paying OOP for meals.

I do know that no matter what we do or don't see, we're going to have a blast!!! And that's what counts! Thanks again for the advice. I feel like I'm on disney overload right now, lol

My $0.02 -

I'm gald we did it once, but I doubt we'll do it again. It's nice. The desserts are very good and there's plenty of varierty and the uncrowded view is excellent. However, I feel, it is just not good enough to justify the cost. $10-$15 pp...maybe. Over $20 pp, certainly not.
