I'm honeymooning to Disney World the week after Presidents Day and wanted to be sure I'm getting the best deal possible. I want to stay at POR and need either PHP or UPH tickets. Is the Winter Dream Maker package the cheapest way to go? Should I book directly through Disney or through a travel agent?

If you are looking to have UPH's in your package, then yes, it is the cheapest way available. Be advised, however, that since this is a package, you'll have to pay the full cost 21 days prior to your arrival date (or maybe earlier).

As an alternative, you could wait for AP rates (once [if?] they are released), and use annual passes instead. This would only be a viable option only if you are staying for eight days or more.

Either way, you'll have a lot of fun!

I figured out pricing on this package. We were going to go with 5 day park hoppers. The only way to make it cheaper for us was to get the package for only the middle of our trip. We won't be using park tickets on the first or last day, so we made three different reservations. We will have to check in and out three times, but very minor, I believe.

I always wondered about this. We have always done park hoppers and separate resort reservations as well....because they have always been cheaper. They will let you book resort only reservations for the first and last night of your trip with separate reservations? I guess that makes sense. Does that mean that you have to move out of one room and move into another twice? Or does it just mean that you have to stop by the front desk two times to do the "paperwork?"

This package is only good for check ins on or before 02/11/04. You mention the week after Presidents week which I believe is after 02/11/04.

We have been told that they can't guarantee that we will be in the same room. However, we will just make sure we don't unpack too much the first night, and we will do most of our packing on that one night. I know it might sound like a pain, but I'm not paying Disney money for something I won't use. I'm sure they make a lot of extra money that way.

I wonder if we could go down at midnight that first night (which will be the second day technically because of midnight) and check in for the middle of the trip.

We did this last time at AKL. When we checked in the first time, we mentioned that we had 2 seperate reservations. They noted it and we were able to keep the same room. When we checked in the 2nd time, I think I just signed something and got new keys.

This was all without UPH though (we had to move b/c POR closed on us)

This time, we're doing the winter package and have a 1 night reservation and then a 5 night dream maker ressie, so we'll check in twice

Last year I stayed at the GF for 29 days on the Grand Plan (now Platinum). I found that if I went from Dec 20th to Jan 3rd (my original days) I would pay just as much as if I went earlier Dec 3 and left Jan 3. The reason being is the Value Season. Fortunately I could go earlier and did stay a month and worried about nothing - could take whatever tour I wanted and when and had a really fun trip.

This year I'm going Pres. Week and the same thing (My dates were originally going to be Feb 14-22). Because the value season ends on Feb 11, I would end up paying $4,000 more than if I began my trip on the 11th - the last day of the value season (which means you get the value season rates for the entire trip even though the trip starts on the last day).

If you can start your trip on the 11th I HIGHLY recommend it - even if you end up not showing up until the 12th, you'd still get a better deal because you'd get the value rates.

By the way, my original trip from the 14-22 at the Platinum Plan at the Yacht would have cost me $12,863. WHen I changed it to the 11 -22 - the price went to 8,863. Just for comparison.

Good Luck!
