Is walking or railroad faster to get to Frontierland?

At park opening, I wonder is it faster to walk or take the railroad from mainstreet at entrance to the exactly the same spot between splash mountain and BTMR?

Any experience?

We never tried to take the railroad at park opening, but this time I was thinking about touring Frontierland first then Adventureland, since there is a booth between those 2 areas you can sign up for a pirate treasure hunt type of stuff in Adventureland. And we always tour Adventureland first before we get to the booth, so want to try the other sequence and do the 'A Pirate's Adventure ~ Treasures of the Seven Seas'. Taking the train can save us some precious energy...

That is an interesting question. In our experience, it is easier to just walk there. However, we have never tried the train at park opening, so it is probably much quicker at that time.

Don't they wait a while until the train fills up.

If the train is just 2-5 minutes slower, I would still save the walking by taking the train to save strength to later, especially during a hot day...

I don't know if it's any faster, but when we're tired we enjoy riding it to get to other parts of the park. You at least don't have to wade through crowds. We do enjoy the little train. I've not known it to wait to fill up before it goes.

We take the train when Frontierland is cut off by the parade. Otherwise, we walk. For us, (and your mileage may vary), a trip to WDW is about the experience more so than the speed. Shaving a minute off of our schedule here and there is less important than capturing certain experiences. And for us, the morning walk down Main Street is not to be missed, even if taking a train might get us to BTMRR 2 minutes faster.
