I'm celebrating my 29th birthday during our upcoming trip and my husband said something to me today about going to V & A's. I thought he was only kidding but he is serious! What can you tell me about this restaurant? How are they with accomodating picky eaters and lactose intolerance? Any experiences would be welcomed.......thank you!

Whether it is worth the $$ is such a personal decision I think but V&A is truly wonderful. Great cuisine, service and setting. For us it's a special treat that we don't do every trip but it is fantastic.

Don't have experience with special requests there but since the run of the mill restaurants at WDW can help with special dietary need I'm sure V&A will dazzle you if you let them know ahead.

Yes, it is a relative question and one which you'll only really be able to answer if you go.
I know they do what they can for special dietary needs, but the menu is not extensive and usually changes daily.
As for a pickey eater--I don't really know.
Check out my review (which I'm going to do right now) and see if anything appeals to you.

DBF is quite a picky eater and he thoroughly enjoyed V & As.

As mentioned in earliar posts it is certainly a restaurant that we go to for special occassion dinners.

I would say try it and then you can make up your own mind.

Do I think it is worth it...Yes! Yes!! Yes!!! That being said, it does cost a lot of jack but it is a dining experience. You will be there for 2 - 2 1/2 hours and will be treated wonderfully. My husband and I have had the pleasure of dining at V&A twice and each time was wonderful.

As far as a picky eater, I really can't help you there. We enjoy eating different kinds of foods. I have a friend who is a picky eater, she always says she doesn't like this or that. I'll ask where she tried it and she will respond, "Oh, I havn't. Just sounds yucky." Then I will make her try it, and guess what, she likes it.

I think V&A would be a wonderful place to celebrate your 29th birthday. Have fun!!!!! and Happy Birthday.

I'm a picky eater--especially when it comes to meats/fish/game/poultry (most of which I don't/won't eat) and I had a terrible time finding something I would like there.

It wasn't for us, and I highly doubt we'll eat there again. We also found the service a bit condescending. But that was many years ago, and I'd never discourage anyone from eating there if they had their hearts set on it.

However if you truly are a picky eater, I'd avoid disappointment and choose another restaurant.

I like to be able to see the menu in advance, which you can't really do at V&A's. I prefer Citrico's, very, very nice and we find it as romantic as V&A's.
