Is Victoria & Al's worth the price?

If you have an Annual Pass it is $60. If you do not have an AP but are a Florida Resident it is $75. If neither, you can't get it.

This is my favorite restaurant, I wish I was closer than 1900 miles! I have eaten here three times and totally love it, go very hungry there is a lot of food!

Maybe becasue I'm spoiled growing up on awesome food in New Orleans, or maybe I was just expecting to be completely blown away the way the CM at our check in made it sound like it would be. But it just was not good that night. Again, service and atmosphere were top notch, food was terrible.

Well thats probably your "problem". Growing up in New Orleans kinda ruins your palate for all those other *ahem* bland foods, no matter how good they are. Everyone who comes from New Orleans definitely needs to carry an emergency seasoning pack including [but not limited to] a mini Tony's and a mini Tabasco. :teeth:
How would you compare V&A to some of the classic New Orleans ressies btw? (like Commanders or Antoines).

And general question: What is the difference between the main dining room and the CT?

Has anyone done V & a's solo

Not yet...but I just booked today for May :goodvibes
I am really nervous about doing this one solo although I have been to many other disney restaurants solo. I think it's because everyone says how romantic and intimate it is. But I really want to try all the great food :goodvibes I did a few of the Wine & Food festival events solo and really enjoyed them...so I'm going to give this one a try too! Hopefully I'll be able to give a good solo dining report when I'm done!

I have a question about the wine pairing. Is it worth it? How many tastings do you have, one with each course? I'm wondering if it is too much wine for one person. Also, I enjoy certain red wines the most, so I guess there's a chance I might not care for the selections :scratchin Maybe it is better to order one or two glasses individually?

DH and I went to V&A on our honeymoon, we were in the dining room and had a great experiance. The best on all of disney property. We went back last year and took my mom to the Chef's Table. Hubby LOVED it and so did my mom but I prefer the dining room better. AT the CT you don't get to choose what you eat but you do get to choose in the dining room. CT is not as romantic as you are in the kitchen watching the chef's cook. It was AWESOME and I would do it again but as was said before they are two totally diffrent dining experiences. I am going back this friday to V&A's and I being my best friend to dine in the dining room. I can't wait. :woohoo:

Katypop -- We, too, are red wine fans. However, we always elect to do the wine pairing when we go to V&A. You will get a variety of wines that pair nicely with the courses. They won't all be red, but we enjoy the element of suspense -- what did the chef and sommelier think would go best with this dish? Do we agree?

Needless to say, the wines are all outstanding, and the wine pairing is an excellent way to taste several ones -- some of which you might not otherwise order.

Also, if you're dining solo, the variety of wines will give you a chance to chat with the waiters and also perhaps Israel Perez, the sommelier, about the choices. Israel is totally charming -- and I think that will add to your solo experience.

The wine pairing is about $50, I think. I don't think it's too much wine for one person. And -- there will be some reds. If you're a wine lover, I'd say go for it!!

Thanks ElizabethB , I think I will take a chance and go for the wine pairing too :goodvibes I can hardly wait until May!

Good decision, katypop -- you won't regret it. Have a wonderful evening!

I don't drink red wine at all and the four times that I have been there, they have given wonderful white wine substitutes. Just ask and they will happily make other recommendations.

Is the Chef's Table similar to the Biergarten, minus the accordion player of course... That is, do you sit with other people who have booked the table as well? Also, I'm not a drinker, does it seem to be a problem (service etc) if you don't order wine or alcohol?

The Chef's Table is like nothing else on Disney Property.

You only sit with people you have booked with. You are not sat with anyone other than your party. Thats part of the reason it is so difficult to get. There is only 1 table available per night and some nights they don't even offer it.

Service is NOT dependant on Alcohol service, so there is nothing to worry about.

Go for it.....its a wonderful experience!

aunties, this is good to know :) I won't mind if one of the selections is white, depending on the type and sweetness, but it's great to hear that they will allow you to substitute if you would like. I am envious....you've had 4 visits :goodvibes You obviously must enjoy it!

Does this mean that if DH & I book Chef's Table we will be the only ones at the table that night? I thought the table booked around 8-10 people. Does this mean they all have to be from the same group? :confused3 :confused3 :confused3

Yes, you will be the only ones at the table. The table CAN seat 8-10, but it doesn't necessarily HAVE to.

Thanks for the quick answer. I assumed that it was like the Teppanjaki in Japan at EPCOT, where they fill the table. You would think that they would have to charge a party of 2 more than a party of 3 or more. But then again, with DDE you can use it for up to 10 people and if you are only 2 people you don't get as much value from it. I guess everything evens out in the end.

Now that I know this it makes it even more interesting.

We had dinner at V&A's for our 30th Anniversary 4 years ago, and it would be interesting to do the Chef's Table for our 35th.   :teeth:

I have a reservation for Victoria & Alberts to for this summer! I will dining there solo. :cool1:

This is my biggest concern. I have eaten at many great restaurants in New Orleans (Susan Spicer's Bayona, all three of Emeril's restatuants, Cuvee, etc., etc.), Las Vegas, California and several Michelin 3 star restaurants in Europe and I am concerned that it will not overcome my dislike for dress codes and advance planning.

We had no problem getting reservations 24 hrs in advance.
Maybe things have changed in 9 yrs?

Disney now lets any one make reservations 180 (and some 190) days out. Makes planning six months in advance a real requirement.

Based on our two experiences, I would say they were the best dining experience we have had....ever. Certainly not bragging, but DH and I have had some pretty outrageous dinners and V & A's Chef's Table blew them all away. Hope you get to try it again and hope the food is more to your liking this time :sunny:

To help me compare, would you list some other experiences that you considered "outrageous"?
