Is US worth a visit?

I am confused, spoke to my mum last night and showed her the itinerary and she says we should go to US even if it is just for one day. can you buy 1 day tickets, don't want to spend any more than I need to due to budgeting. Its a case of every £ or $ saved counts.

You can buy 1 day tickets at the gate yes, they always have offers on and currently you get a free 3rd day when you buy a 2 day ticket, with a free kid's ticket too.

Hiya

definatly worth a visit, we are taking the girls this year for their first time to us cant wait

plus if your thinking cost thomsons had an offer on that if you buy an adult ticket the child goes free

If at all possible get to know someone with an AP. I got another email from them yesterday we can buy 1 day 2 park passes again for half price, until end of May. Got 1 at Xmas for Mother in law, cost about $38.

I just wish they would upgrade the water canons, I cant reach enough innocent bystanders with them:lmao:

I spend about an hour up there last time waiting for people to walk by then open fire, then ducking down so they think some kids did it :rotfl2:

I've got a link to a two park, 7 day unlimited admission ticket direct from Universal for $86 plus tax. I'll post it if someone can tell me how, otherwise PM me an email address and I'll send you it. I've never been able to find this offer online but have used it twice with no problems.
Actually, I've just seen it at the top of this page!!

I don't hide I just smile at them, but I am 6 foot and 20 stone:lmao:
A few years back my DW droped bucket of water on a lady, she could not see who it was, turned out to be a lady of about 70 years young, she took it in good spirits and chased my DW for about 10 minutes with a cup of water. It was hillarious. Her family were cracking up.
99% of people just smile back but there is the odd one that glares at me. I don't care, there are arrows to follow if you want to keep dry, they should read them:rotfl2: .

If someone said to me you have only 3 hours, pick where you want to spend it, My choice would be Curious George at Universal. Like a guy said to me last week "This is the most fun I have had all Vacation, why didn't we find it earlier?"
I just wish they would upgrade the water canons, I cant reach enough innocent bystanders with them:lmao:

I am glad there is another 'adult' who enjoys this too! I was soaked through when we went, but it was so welcome in the heat. My hubbie came in for the first time, walking into our trap. The oldest likes to prime up a pump on the lower right floor then let it go, sending several fountains of gushing water up from the floor. It was so funny. When we came out, saw all the boring adults sweltering in the sun waiting for the kids.:goodvibes

So in August if I see another adult playing around in there, in could be you.:)

Back on topic, I cannot understand why anyone would miss Universal or Islands out. We love these parks. Disney parks are great too but the Universal ones are excellent too.

When we first visited when our sons were 7 and 5, we automatically included Universal and Sea World with the Disney parks (Islands wasn't open then). It was a trip of a life time and we wanted to make sure we did everything we could do in that visit. We didn't know if we would ever be back again so it made sense to do anything we wanted to do, we also did Cypress Gardens, Kennedy Space Centre and Gatorland. We all thoroughly enjoyed the holiday.

We enjoyed it that much we wanted to go back and, fortunately, were able to. We still do all the parks because we love doing them. As long as you get to the parks early there are no problems with lines. We enjoy doing 14 days of parks, starting as soon as we get to the hotel. As we have been a few times now we can pick and choose what we want to do at each park. When we first went we did everything in each park (as we didn't know if we would be back).

I would say, please go to Universal/Islands, they are not to be missed. Spiderman is the most state of the art ride in the world and to miss it would be a great shame. As I said my kids were only 7 and 5 when we first took them to Universal and they both enjoyed it. Barring the 7 year old didn't like Jaws too much. He made sure he was sat in the centre of the boat with parents, grandparents, auntie and brother surrounding him, survival of the wisest!

Popeye's barges is great fun too, remember in March 2005 Josh and I went on it three times in succession - he loved it - thing was the weather wasn't that warm and I was still soaked when we left the park.
Also like shooting the water cannons as people pass by under the bridge, before they get wet on the ride.

You are guaranteed to get soaked as the water comes at you from all angles!

Our DS can just stand for 3 hours with these fountains, turning the wheel when someone dry comes along, the phone and elevator next to it can be fun also. Its amazing how high the fountains go when primed properly.
We will be there lots in August, going from 2nd-27th so will do CG at least 3 times, I prefer it to any water park. Only problem in August is too many kids in there taking my fave cannon, can I email and reserve it now?:lmao:

I like to get up on Popeys ship with the cannons up there also.
Best ones though are the ones at bottom on Ripsaw falls. Cannon #5 fires water down into the boat. I already have 40 quarters saved ready to use in August.:thumbsup2

Oh definitely agree here. We have more laughs on this ride than any other, I love it. We stay on it as long as possible just going round and round, till we are all soaked, don't want anyone to feel left out.:rotfl:

Snap we love these too. There is nothing more satisfying than blasting someone who thinks they have escaped a soaking only to get fired on when they least expect it!

:)

Make sure you aim at people with t-shirt's on! Better satisfaction when they get wet.

Oh I have to disagree here, the best satisfaction is gained from aiming at the ones who are just taking off their plastic macs!:rotfl:

I agree with you both:lmao:
I wish I was there now and I have only been back 5 days.

I have been many times to US and IOA and never seen curious george, sounds good fun though

Its hidden, just continue walking past ET, past Barney and you come to it. There is CG and at the other side of that a massive ball area with air tubes blasting balls all over the place.

The last time we were at the Curious George play area an unsuspecting mother decided to go in and collect her little boy just as the bell was ringing announcing the overturning of the bucket. She looked around wondering what all the fuss was about and was then swamped under an absolute deluge of water! :lmao:
Everyone was in tears! She was soaked to the skin! :rotfl2:
Mind you I have to say she took it very well (after the initial scream that is) and laughed along with everyone else....eventually.

Again, this is another gem from Universal Studios. The kids love it and also the nearby Woody Woodpecker coaster and water slide.

The Universal parks are a must see!

Now i know where you mean, we always missed that area as we thought it was for little ones,my kids been teenagers didn't want to bother.

Off tomorrow but only got tickets for Disney this year, havn't been back to Disney for about 5 years. No kids either....just me and the wife...NICE!

I am another who would never miss out on US when I go to Orlando. It's not a relaxing holiday by any means but when you get there you just want to cram as much as you can into your 2/3 weeks or whatever time you have.

We're usually up around 7 a.m. for breakfast, then don't get back to our hotel until very late in the evening.

BTW I love Popeys barges - the look on peoples faces when they get soaking wet is priceless !! We walked around absolutely drenched last time - and my son was 15 at the time.

You might regret not doing it - and IOA is also fantastic too. I say go for it !!
