Is Universal Worth it for Non-Thrill Junkies?

So, I've wanted to check out Universal for years, but always stayed away because for lack of a better term, I'm a wimp when it comes to thrill rides. I can handle some, but for reference Expedition Everest is pretty much my absolute limit. And even then, I need to really convince myself to ride it. The entire reason I love Disney so much is that even if I have to skip out on Rock n Roller Coaster and Tower of Terror, there's plenty to do.

With all that said, is Universal worth it for someone like me, or will I feel like I wanted my money?

Universal really only has 2 big intense rides (Hulk and Rocket). So just avoid those 2 and you can enjoy everything else. Nothing else there is as intense as what you’d feel at Everest. Most of what you’ll find there is more in line with Dinosaur and Star Tours as far as intensity goes.

If you can handle Everest, you’ll be fine at Universal except for the 2 mentioned coasters. One of my daughters doesn’t do coasters so she skips Hulk, Rip Rocket and Dragons challenge which I hear is down for re construction anyway. Oh, she also doesn’t do Doom Fall!

Thanks everyone. For some reason, I was under the impression that USF/IoA were really intense parks. But thankfully, it seems I'm wrong.

Time to look into planning a Universal day!

I don't do thrill rides AT ALL and even I found stuff I was interested in at Universal. The Harry Potter stuff, obviously, but I also liked the King Kong ride and my kids wanted to do the 'virtual' rides like Minions several times.

Thx for sharing all this info.
I’ve always wanted to go myself ( especially to see the Potter stuff) but don’t even do Everest/space mtn anymore at disney. So, no true coasters for me. ( I love 7 dwarfs, runaway train, splash, Pandora, test track,.. basically milder rides)
I’m one who can walk MK/Epcot/AK for hours just looking in shops and taking pix and immersing in the “ feel” of disney.
Is there that kind of feeling at Universal or is it really all about the rides?
Do you think that someone who is like that can enjoy Universal in the same way?

Thoughts appreciated!

We go a lot and sometimes the rides aren’t our focus.

I can honestly say we can just wander around and soak up the atmosphere in both parks. Studios have all kinds of entertainment around the parks......singers, Blues Brothers and Beat Builders to name a few.

Potter areas in particular are very immersive......there is so much to see and for a first timer you will be blown away by the attention to detail. It really is beyond impressive.

So, I do believe you could have the same experiences in just walking around and taking everything in.......:thumbsup2

Thank you so much for taking the time to respond..and all the info

. I’m actually Excited to try it then.
Here’s to a New Adventure... in 2019

Universal is fabulous. I get motion sickness on anything and can’t do coasters...unless underneath a nice cocktail..haha! But with a couple of seasick pills... there is men in black, Simpson’s, et ride, shrek, minions, loads to do and nice watering hole at the waterfront. You will love the mummy ride. I like terminator and Kong too.

Terminator closed and a new show or similar entertainment will replace it

UO has not officially released what it will be yet

Our first trip, my boys were too small to do the roller coasters. Our last trip, even the more adventurous balked after riding the Mummy, so no more coasters than that. But we had a great time both trips; there were more "experiences" on some of those trips, like Twister and Terminator, but there was still plenty to do and see. We normally left by dinner and had nice meals offsite with early-ish bedtimes to hit the parks again first thing in the morning.
