We were planning on making reservations at Tonys in MK one night on our trip but I have read a lot of bad reviews. Anyone have an opinion?

It's been nearly 3 years now, but when dh, dd and I went we all truly enjoyed it. We had lunch there and we didn't have an ADR or anything and walked in and got a table. Some friends of ours went to DW over Christmas/New Year's and had dinner there per our suggestion. Both of them simply raved about it and swore it was the best Italian dish either one of them ever!

Good luck deciding!

We have reservations for our up coming trip and was also a little nervous. After reading the reviews on allearsnet.com we decided to keep it. I think if you polled everyone it would be 50/50. All of the reviews read the same, some people love it while others hate.

To this day it's the only terrible meal we had at WDW and we are not picky eaters or people. Everything was bad and even my kids were complaining and they eat anything. This was in 2003, and I suppose it's possible they were just having an off day. :confused3

DH and I are both originally from outside New York City were there are tons of really great Italian restaurants. However, I didn't expect it to be as good as those. I expected Olive Garden quality (it is a theme park after all) and it SO was NOT as good as your average Olive Garden.

Maybe some day we'll try it again if we start reading good reviews about it-maybe you'll post one!

We like lunch here, usually not so busy. The panini sandwiches were very good and the deserts---YUMMY!
Service was also very good.

There's a thread like this about Tony's about once a week. Opinions vary greatly.

The biggest complaint I've seen is that the Spag & Meatballs is just too expensive for the quality.

Anyway, we ate there Oct and LOVED it. We loved the atmophere and our food.

I had the steak and my DDs had the thin crust pizza. Both were delicious.

We thought it was great and are eating there again this October.

I think everyone should try restaurants out for themselves to see if they really are that great or that bad!

We went Oct. 2004 and DH & I enjoyed it. Our server was fantastic too! :)

My family went to Tony's in Aug. of last year. None of us were impressed with our food. It was just okay. We are returning to Disney in August and will not be returning to Tony's.

We went had been to Tony's on a number of occasions in the early 90s and really loved it.

I guess I'm spoiled when it comes to Italian food since I live in the NYC metro area and have my choice of great Italian food anytime I want it.

We have been to WDW 6-7 times in the past 7 years, and on every trip we have lunch at Tony's, and almost always have managed a table on the porch during the afternoon parade. I personally love the place... the menu items are very basic and perhaps not all that interesting, but the food is extremely good and we love the atmosphere. I will say we have gone for dinner only once... I feel the dinner prices are set at a higher level than this restaurant justifies.

Yes, it is that bad in my opinion. As a matter of fact it was our all time worst dining experience, never again! :sad2:

We found it okay on our last trip. The food was passable but not great. The location is good, and it is a nice quiet spot in MK which is always a plus. One disappointment, however, is that it's not really special in theming (which can be a plus for you of course).

We went over Christmas and loved it. The service was outstanding, the food terrific. The kids had a great time and it didn't cost anymore than any other TS restaurant. We had steaks, but IMO spaghetti & meatballs is overpriced anywhere you order it out for what it is, really. Also the desserts were scrumptious!

We went before Christmas and enjoyed it. The food is not "top shelf" Italian. The theming isn't as rich as some of the other restaurants.
We are huge Lady and the Tramp fans. The pictures were something to talk about with my DD's (5 and 9). We has some t-shirts that we wanted Lady and the Tramp to autograph. Our server asked, but they were afraid the ink would simply wash out of the shirts. Instead they gave us a special Tony's collectable pin. THAT was a huge plus for us.
We smiled all the way through the phenomenal desserts.

We've been twice to Tony's and had excellent meals there both times. I think that you actually have to try the restaurant yourself to figure anything out here. People will always have varying opinions on the restaurants in Disney. We all had the spaghetti and meatballs and the calamari and it was to die for, in OUR opinion.

Go and have a good time! :goodvibes

I was fortunate to have a really good lunch there (for once my food allergies paid off) however the rest of my party disliked their food (and they were correct). They all felt the sauce was dumped from a can/ jar and bland. I agree with NMW I did not expect top shelf however I did expect on par with at least an Olive Garden and it wasn't.

I am chuckling as I write this though...I can still see DH's face. He was so disapproving of the food there and was trying not to be. Afterwards he stated he'd never eat there again. The other 4 dishes were truly terrible. So when we walk down Main Street inevitably Tony's is pointed out and he still cringes.

I agree witht the spirit of Bella2000's post, it depends upon what you order. The Pasta Primavera is excellent, the tomato based sauces are lacking. The luncheon pannini sandwiches are good, the soups are usually good, the calamari is wonderful, even the meatball sub is tasty...but I did not care for the ziti or spaghetti. It is one of our normal lunch spots in the MK, but we just don't order the items in a tomato sauce.

I have eaten there twice, once in March 2004 and once in February 2006, and both times were very yummy! I would recommend it. I'm eating there also on my September trip!!

Have a great vacation :goodvibes

My parents ate there in December and said that it was the best food of their trip. We have never tried it, but might this time.

Tony's is not on our list of TS restaurants, but it continues to exist for either a never ending population of first timers or there must be something on the menu they can actually make which is eatable.

I would recommend the Crystal Palace or the Plaza Restaurant before steering a fiend to Tony's on Mainstreet.
