Is Tink a guy?

OMG! I am dying!:lmao:popcorn:: Very few things make me laugh out loud! Several things in this thread made me do just that! (thank you Robo :flower3:) Now everyone in my house thinks I'm nuts, but I don't dare show the kiddies!

I spoke with a nice CM last summer who knew a few of the Tinks and two of the Peter Pan's. She said the Tinks she knew were all very "hatefully petite" females, but she wouldn't comment when I asked if Tink was ever a man. ;)

The Peter Pans she knew were exactly like the characters they play in real life, one of them more so! Think of the pirouetting during the parades and you'll know what I mean. :)

The current Peter Pan is a very petite male. We've stood next to him for autographs 3 trips in a row now, as well as watched him on stage in castle show and in parade, numerous times, and he's very petite! I'm petite, and he's smaller than me!

Tiger :)

I always thought it was Sandy Duncan...

Mary Martin and Cathy Rigby. Not sure about Sandy Duncan, but she would be a likely candidate!

As I recall from our KTTK tour--assuming the information provided is correct--Tink must wear a very small shoe size--can't remember if the maximum size is a ladies size 5 or 6.

Definitely dates me (okay, so does the reference to Mary Martin as Peter Pan on Broadway! *LOL*), but I remember only seeing the tip of Tink's wand on her night flight at Disneyland (CA) for many years! She was followed by a spotlight, but her only light was her wand! :)

FWIW, my mom used to be a CM in costuming (back in the mid 90's) and one of her responsibilities was to help Tink get situated into her gear before her flight. Tink was a very small (and very nervous) female at that time. Mom said she would get really anxious right before her flight.

In the early nineties my mom got into a discussion with a CM and was told that Tink made $500 a night - so if that was correct, I'm sure the amount has increased, so I could easily see $800

Somebody was bored and dug up this thread. Hmmmm.... I wonder who?

Cheers to Tink! Whoever s / he may be!

Be glad that WDW doesn't have the freaky mask that Tink at DL wears.

You can see the mask a bit in this pic:

I wonder how people get this job. Do they just audition for it like a regular meet n greet character audition?

Seriously, I think they would get someone who has a circus background.

They wouldn't just put an ad in the paper.

Sandy Duncan did do Peter Pan at one point -- it was before Cathy Rigby did. Rigby has made something of a second career out of the role, however.

As for body shape, even a curvy woman wouldn't look it in a stunt harness. It is fitted under the costume around the torso, and I'm sure it is rather bulky. It would have to be quite heavy-duty for that kind of a flight without a net, even if the wearer is small.

Yes, she sure did..1979 on Broadway..
