I spoke with a nice CM last summer who knew a few of the Tinks and two of the Peter Pan's. She said the Tinks she knew were all very "hatefully petite" females, but she wouldn't comment when I asked if Tink was ever a man.
The Peter Pans she knew were exactly like the characters they play in real life, one of them more so! Think of the pirouetting during the parades and you'll know what I mean.![]()

I always thought it was Sandy Duncan...

Be glad that WDW doesn't have the freaky mask that Tink at DL wears.
You can see the mask a bit in this pic:

I wonder how people get this job. Do they just audition for it like a regular meet n greet character audition?![]()

Seriously, I think they would get someone who has a circus background.

Sandy Duncan did do Peter Pan at one point -- it was before Cathy Rigby did. Rigby has made something of a second career out of the role, however.
As for body shape, even a curvy woman wouldn't look it in a stunt harness. It is fitted under the costume around the torso, and I'm sure it is rather bulky. It would have to be quite heavy-duty for that kind of a flight without a net, even if the wearer is small.
Now Hiring: Tinkerbell. Must not mind getting pushed out windows.Seriously, I think they would get someone who has a circus background.
They wouldn't just put an ad in the paper.
