Is three days enough?

Hello, my mom and I will be going to DL for the first time in July. We've found a three-day package(including hotel, air, and tickets) for $319 per person. I know that July is part of the "busy season," and I've heard that four days is the recommended number of days, but this package seems like a good deal, and we'll be skipping the "kiddy" rides(ex. dumbo, snow white, a bug's land), so is three full days good enough? We'll be staying with our relatives by San Diego afterwards and checking out everything there. To be clear, we're planning on flying there on Monday, July 13, and spending the 14th through the 16th at the parks. We're planning on flying home on the 24th. The hotel is the Holiday Inn. So, are these good enough plans?

I think it's a little tough in the summer to do it in 3 days but in the winter (non-holiday time) it's more than enough. We did DL in 1 day & DCA in 1/2 day.....in January. Plus we didn't go on the big rides bc of the youngest.

But if you go in w/ an open mind & not out to "conquer all" it's totally doable. DL is what YOU make it & as long as you get to do your favorite things in the time you have...job well done.

Thanks, I'm not out to ride every single ride there. When we went to WDW last year, we didn't go on some of the rides because we didn't think we needed to. I think we'll be ok. Now we just need to book everything and pay for it....
EDIT: I almost forgot to mention: I did read some of Hydroguy's tips, they're really useful! And I have to go in July because: 1. This trip is my graduation present. 2. School=No winter trips. I want to see everything(especially Splash Mountain) open anyway. 3. Our relatives are expecting us to come and are planning this trip now.

Go with Hydroguy's advice and get to the parks early. Don't miss Peter Pan or Roger Rabbit. Go with a plan and you will get it done.

Thanks. I do plan on getting to the parks early. I'd like to go on Roger Rabbit and most of the other rides that aren't at WDW. I've been on Peter Pan at WDW, and it's not exactly my favorite ride......... is the DL version better? Maybe I'll give it a shot.

Three days during the summer is usually what we do. I would say it is the minimum. We get to most of the stuff we want. This trip will be a week just to get some good use out of our APs and try to see somethings we usually skip. But you can do a lot in three days during the summer. It is doable.

I agree about not going into it with a conquer all attitude. I would recommend making a list of the things you want to do most and focus on those things. You'll more than likely have the opportunity to do more. I have the unofficial guide to disneyland and it rocks! I got the one for WDW and the advice was very helpful and the information was fantastic! Have a good trip... by the way that price is awesome per person!

Thanks guys! I feel better about it now. Like I mentioned before, I don't want to do everything, but I want to try and experience some of the things unique to DL, such as Indiana Jones, the Matterhorn, etc. since I probably won't be able to go back there for a while.

Sounds like 3 will be fine for you you are not expecting to ride everything so just make a list of what you want to see
One bit of advice, don't jump all over the place LOL
Start in a land and hit what you want in that land, then move on.
So much time is wasted by trying to hit all the big stuff and running from one end to the other.

P.S. I was there yesterday, Peter Pan is CLOSED for renivation, Prob wont be open when you get here. Hope Im wrong though and you can get on it.

It actually will be open by July. They are just finishing up the refurb. But I've been on both Peter Pans. There's really not a huge difference. I think you should definitely ride Mr. Toad, Pinocchio, and Alice (oh and Monster's Inc. at DCA) though since those are not at WDW.

Rides that I think you should not skip even though there is another ride with the same name at WDW:
-Space (so much better at DLR it's not even funny)
-Buzz (same because it's a lot easier to shoot at the targets at DLR)
-It's a Small World (great exterior, it's the original, and the new additions look good)
-Pirates (so much longer and better at DLR)

Other than that, hit the rides that WDW doesn't have (Indy, Matterhorn, California Screamin, etc.) and 3 days will be fine. As you can see, my longest trip has been 3 days, and let me tell you, I do a TON in those 3 days.

Once again, thanks for the advice, and I already know about the whole fastpass thing(I ended up using them several times at WDW). DLR29, I will definitely try to go on the rides you mentioned. We're(hopefully) going to book our vacation tomorrow.
