Mileage will vary, but it's considered fun by most.I've often been curious...why do people always put their arms up while riding a coaster. It always just looked silly to me. I must be missing something.

Personally, I think it's a combination of getting tossed around a bit more, having as much of your body outside of the ride vehicle as possible, and the illusion of speed; that's why I do it, at least. For people newer to roller coasters and slowly adjusting I think it has more to do with conquering a fear and being able to ride without holding on to anything.I considered that but the "fun" part escapes me. Does it make your brain think you are going to fall out and therefore is more exciting? Maybe I'll try it someday and see if I can recreate some of the fun.![]()
