Poohbear123, I really hope you didn't think I was laughing at the fact mla2177's mother had been ill and thought that may have been her in the photo. :confused3

I was simply laughing at the photos :goodvibes

Ok- dumb question.....Is rain like this common??

Yes & I believe they call it Liquid Magic :wizard:

I don't see anything with this family trying to soak up all the magic they could... :goodvibes

Change the date to three days in late August 2002 and the place to the Fantasmic stage and that is us!! We went back three days in a row and never did get to see Fantasmic that trip. In fact one night they moved us all over two B&B stage for about an hour to see if the rain would stop and then sent us home anyway. Didn't get to see this show until our next trip at Christmas 2004!!

And my parents are the ones in the yellow ponchos!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Did you not read all the other posts on this thread!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :furious:

No it is not your parents! They were a very young couple sitting there. :)

Heehee... :teeth: I love it when it pours like that. Especially when I am just with my sisters; my older sister would be skipping along, sopping wet, "Singin' in the Rain".

I was too, and DO HOPE her Mom is better.

I had to do a double take when i first saw the photo as that was mum and me a few days earlier-in the exact same spot on main st!!!We were desperate to see the parade as we had to leave for the airport right after. They did run half the parade with some of the poor characters absolutely drowned-mum and i were the only people jumping up and down and waving at them, everyone else sheltered in shop doorways.
We had to get new clothes to fly home in but it was worth it,one disney memory i will never forget :goodvibes

What is this world coming to?!?!

Here we have a woman in pain, and for all everybody knows, is in mortal danger, and all anyone does is take pictures of her, then make fun of her on the internet!

Fantasmic303 sits next to her and has her picture taken with her like she's some kind of tourist attraction!

You should all be ashamed of yourselves.

Thanks for reminding me why NOT to go back in the summer! I swear we kept running thinking lightening was going to zap us because it would just explode behind us.We like spring time in Florida soooo much better! :cheer2:

First off, you don't know that the woman in the pic is actually her mum. I had my appendix out three years ago and I will be the first to tell you that I would in no way sit down on a concrete sidewalk and sit there in the rain in the kind of pain she should have been in.
The couple in the pic is young and one of them is wearing a very hip and young looking pair of lime green and silver nikes. I don't know anyone over 50 that would wear a pair of shoes like that.
Why did mla2177 use the :stir: after her second post. My guess is that she was "stirring up" some trouble. :smooth:
Secondly, Fantasmic 303 did not sit down to have her pic taken with the couple. She was standing behind them during the rain and then when it let up she sat down in hopes the parade would still happen.
This world is going to pot and we all know it. But that doesn't mean that this thread proves it. ;)

This thread is hilarious. I think it's so funny Fantastmic spotted herself in the background.

I am sorry about the woman's mother needing surgery but it's pretty evident that it is not her in the photo.

Man, that pic brings back memories.
It brings a tear to the eye
and a yearning to return to the days when only yellow ponchos were seen and the MK looked like this (1992):

When DD and I would walk along singing, "Wak, Wak, Waddle, Waddle, Wak, Wak, Waddle, Waddle" :dance3:

Sigh :upsidedow

 You are kidding, right?

Because 1:

The family in the photo IS NOT the family of the person who posted about her mom. Unless he/she was literally DISing from Main Street, considering he/she posted on the boards that afternoon.

And because 2:

I definitely did NOT sit down to take a picture with the ponchos "like she's some kind of tourist attraction".

Our family was sitting on the curb before the rain started, with the poncho family beside us. It was rumbling that afternoon, but it actually didn't start raining until like 2:30-2:45....so we thought there was a chance the parade would go on. It started raining a little harder, my family got up to go under the awning, I stayed on the curb in MY poncho, NEXT TO THE yellow ones (unseen, to the LEFT of the picture...the other yellow poncho is just a kid walking by on the sidewalk).

I sat there for a while enjoying being cooled off - it was our first full Disney day, and I was just happy to be on Main Street. I couldn't have cared less that I was getting wet. My sister took the picture I posted because she thought me, in a poncho, sitting in the rain was funny.

Which, I think, is the same reason the OP took the picture. It's a funny scene. Plus the rain started coming down so down hard it was actually pretty neat! I probably have video of it, as a matter of fact...perhaps I'll posted up for all to see!

When it started monsooning, I was afraid my cameras would get wet, so I got up and stood beneath the awning, BEHIND the area where the yellow ponchos were.

And then they cancelled the parade.

Who ever woulda thunk a DISer would capture the "magical moment"? :confused3

(And I apologize to the thousands of "tourist attractions" I've inadvertantly taken photos with!!)

I guess a couple of you missed his second post. I am guessing he was only being trying to be funny.

I think it is about time for me to unsubscribe from this thread. Best of luck folks! :daisy:
