is this unfair???

Life isn't fair-get used to it.

And yes, I thoroughly enjoy that quote. I have yet to find one that more brilliantly expresses the epitome of life's realities.

And I know for certain that if my child were to throw a "hissy" over something like not going to Disney because of something I determined, I could PROMISE AND GUARANTEE that they would NEVER be going on my penny EVER again. That is disrespectful beyond belief. To me, that is a huge shuffle of priorities.

So no, I don't think it's unfair.

I would try to get your grade higher than it was before so it shows your parents you really want to go. You will most likely have to work harder for it, but if it ends in Disney, I think most of us on here will say it's worth it! lol And if it's for another reason they cancelled it, maybe they will reconsider since you will be doing better.

Life isn't fair is a horrible quote. Why? Because it can be used as a legit excuse for any act comitted.

YOU KILLED MY DAD!
Life isn't fair. Get over it.

And kids throw fits. It's part of being a kid. If your going to not do things with them because they threw a fit the last time you said no, you're not going to be doing a whole lot.

Because there's no difference between murder and a legit loss of a privilege.

The difference between kids and teenagers is that teens know, and need to act upon, the appropriate way to handle something. Throwing a fit for this reason is 100% unacceptable.

And please don't tell me what I would and would not be doing with my family. There is no way in hell that if I threw a fit over the loss of a privilege that I would ever get it back. No one in my family, extended that is, would either. Neither would my friends and neither would any child that I would ever and have ever been responsible for.

Consequences are how kids learn. I'm surprised more people don't recognize this. It honestly saddens me.

Doesn't matter. My situation still works with why I hate that saying.

Mmk. So lets say your kids complain about not having dinner on the table one day. Are you going to take away their privilage to eat at your table for free, or are you going to charge them?

Consequences, sure. A kid complains because they don't get their cell phone for a week. Fine. Take it away for another week. They complain about not being able to play their video games for a while, take it from them for longer.

Kids learn through consequences, yes, but they learn better when it's a mistake, and not a complete loss of freedom.

Ok, again, what I'm telling you is that there is a huge difference in scenarios here whether you want to admit to seeing them or not. Disney is a lot different from either of these instances here.

And, in my opinion, no, that situation doesn't work to describe the point of that line but that just gives me time to throw out another of my favorite lines.

I'm sorry you feel that way.

ETA: And to answer your question, no, they wouldn't be charged but they would darn well be making their own dinner.

I wish we could look at other people's opinions with some respect rather then ripping others to shreds because they think like an individual and don't have the same thoughts as somebody else. Heh.. i guess only in a perfect world.. right? :sad2:

I said that line works for any situation where you need an excuse. It can excuse anything. I posted a scenario, and it works. Extreem yes, but it still works, no matter what the difference is.

Lets say they complain about it at 3 years old. Do you really want someone at that age working the kitchen?:confused3

I really don't think you're understanding any bit of what I'm saying. So, in an attempt to save time and energy for myself, I'll just settle with the fact that you are not going to understand me and what I'm saying and if you want to fight that, that's your prerogative.

Well, it depends. If you slipped from a C to a D then I guess I can see it, or if you're a person who always gets high grades and has just been slacking... But if you have a C or above then it does seem unfair.
