Ocassionally the seat belt comes unlocked but it is rare. The buckle doesn't hold the restraint down though so no worries. And Ice was down on Monday but it had absolutely nothing to do with restraints.

Ya. Wasn't blaming it on a belt issue. I would be the first one to avoid it if I didn't think it was safe. Finally got my wife to ride the front row with me. We live close enough to go there often.

Anyway hearing that the back up came apart is enough to tell me not to ride - IMO it's very lax of Universal to allow it to happen. It just sounds like another tale of unsafe rides at Universal

Not everything is perfect, I'm sure we've all heard of unsafe rides at just about every park, Disney, Universal, Busch Gardens, Six Flags. We're all human.

I think whoever thought up this rumor watched Final Destination 3 way too much.

What amazes me is to keep reading on these boards about the supposed roughness of Dudley Do Right. I'm one of those people who ends up being forced to skip a lot of rides because my AARP-eligible body punishes me if I don't listen to it. All these years Dudley's always been one of my favorites and I guess because I find it so easy to ride I always classified it as sort of a kiddie ride - even tamer than Splash Mtn. And I always assumed the real thrillseekers in the park over there on DD and Hulk were snickering at me going around and around on Dudley. Gee, instead maybe I'm being admired for how much pain I can endure!

The thing to remember is that the majority of injuries are caused by guests not following safety procedures and/or reading the warning signs.

But there a difference from a ride malfunction and a ride thats just hard on someone with a medical condition.

I mostly do Disney as DD is just gettin up to the Bigger rides.When I do solo's I most of the time head right to US/IOA.


There's NO WAY US would let a ride go if they for any reason thought it would be unsafe. It the security belt was a big deal they would have it electonic locked and not with just the push type button.

We have Batwing at our 6 Flags that you are really held in Just by the harness and a lap/leg type bar But because you are just hangin from the ride the belt has a switch to ensure it's fastened at all times as it's needed for that ride.

As far as DRF well I did the Coalcracker at Hershey a few weeks ago and don't remember it being that ruff on the drop so I was more just resting my hands on the rails and it jolted us pretty good at the end of the drop.Again they wouldn't let it go if people were getting hurt on it.

Thats the best thing about these parks you have so many choices to find something that fits your thrill factor and it's different for everyone.

I've just read that apparently there have been some problems with the seat restraints on Duelling Dragons - that they've been coming loose mid ride?!?!

Can anyone confirm or deny this?

This happened to me once at Six Flags America and I have not returned to that park since. At first I thought that it was my imagination. I was sitting in the back car and when I got off, the two people in the front car reported the same situation and one of them was crying hysterically from fear. I will never forget it.

6-Flags are also very very safe parks, they probably don't have quite the safety budget as Dis and U but they are still very safe nonetheless. Plus any ride built in the last 20 years at least, was designed by engineers that KNOW what they are doing and would never design anything unsafe. Safety fears at any of the real big parks is really just silly. I don't ever remember ever hearing of a death or serious injury at any of the parks, except in a situation where someone jumped or something. I'm not saying its never happened but I don't remember ever hearing about one where it was totally the park or rides fault from lack of safety. Like DM said any injury is about 99.99999999% if not 100% the riders fault for doing something stupid.

I'm wondering how many people understand the physics of roller coasters. I can tell you, the bulky restraints are there to make you feel safe. They aren't necessary. As long as the coaster takes it's inversions with appropriate speed, you ain't going anywhere.

As we were going down the hill and approaching the first loop, I felt the shoulder harness that comes from overhead give way. It was still secured, however, by a belt that came up between my legs and locked into the harness. That belt was suddenly quite taut. I pulled the harness down and pressed it hard into my body for the remainder of the ride.

After I and the people in the first car explained our experiences to the ride operators, the rollercoaster was closed for the remainder of the day.

MINDERASER. This is the one that they come through and check the seats several times a day

TWO FACE it's a hanging one that some seats are backwards facing the people across from you and it just does a cobra loop and regular then goes in the opposite direction.
