My brother was in Epcot on Thursday. He said he was in line with someone from England and they said that Soarin' was going to be moved to Disneyland in France. I find this hard to believe. Has anyone else heard this??? :confused3

"moved to France" - gee, is it going to just 'soar' over there all by itself, LOL? If they want one in France it would be cheaper to just build another one there. The tons and tons of steel used would be very, very expensive to move.

They may be getting Soarin' at DLP, but the one in Epcot is staying. They just spent a ton of money converting the Land pavilion to accomodate Soarin', they wouldn't be moving it now. There has been a rumor that the film will be customized for Epcot adopting a theme different than the California version.:earsboy:

I seriously doubt that! They are supposedly filming footage for a florida version for it.
Also think people! This thing is a super headliner! Why move it? It's drawing crowds ain't it!?They may build on for DL Paris but I'll bet the red plastic cup in my hand that the DW version WILL NOT be moved! :teeth:

I'm not so sure that it will be "Florida".

The ONLY reason it was "Soarin' Over California" (and not the USA) in the first place, is that it was part of "Disney's CALIFORNIA Adventure", the sister park to Disneyland (built on DL's former PARKING LOT, actually).
Originally, Disney was going to build a park there called "WESTCOT" (think "West Coast Epcot") but the locals in Anaheim would not allow it. (Too much traffic and disruption already.)

So... Disney had to come up with a NEW "theme" that would appeal to the locals... and DCA was born. And "Soarin' (Over California") turned out to the break-out HIT of the entire new park!

But, now that Soarin' is a huge success (on BOTH coasts) Disney will finally be able to create a film with more "wide appeal" rather than just localized to any single state.

So expect a change coming up. I'm just not sure of the timetable.

(And don't be too surprised if some of your favorite scenes and SMELLS are a part of the new show, too.)

Do you think they can add some smells and flyovers of some paper mills?????

And BTW, I wouldn't ever take the word of "someone who was in line with your brother" (from England, or not) to be the final word on anything Disney.

I KNOW that's why you posted HERE to check it out... but I'm just sayin'
;)

Yum, YUM!

That is why I posted here. I have always know he was CRAZY!!! I did not believe a word he said, I just wanted to have some support to my response when he gets home. I can't pick on him too much though. He really wanted to see the Shuttle launch and if it doesn't go off tomorrow, he will be one unhappy guy. :sad2: Oh well...... :beach: It's nice to know that once again I am right and he is WRONG!!

Thanks!!!

Now THAT'S why we almost always DRIVE to WDW! So we can stop at those rest areas in Geogia and smell the wonderfully, refreshing smell of PAPER MILLS!!! :thumbsup2

It would be foolish too remove what is easily one of the most popular, if not the most popular, attraction in Epcot. It cost so much to build that it won't be moved.

I could see the film in Soarin' gone in 6 months. It was supposed to be "on loan" from DL for the Happiest Celbration which is ending. Perhaps the new film will be in place by then and France will get the film shown at the Land. Very possible.

It is not on loan but was a gift from Disneyland for the 50th celebration. Each park "gave" something to another Disney park.

If it was on loan they wouldn't have built a new building. Soarin is here to stay in FL. There may be a new movie but nothing has been announced yet.

He meant just the film I believe, not the entire attraction

Ok...normally I would think that this is just a big fat rumor...but I was in line for Epcot this past Thursday and overheard a woman (with a British accent) telling her family that Soarin' was indeed being moved to Paris in October.

Now I hear this from the OP. Is there something to it? I sure hope not!

Maybe just the film. I could see them doing a Soarin over the U.S.A. film. Hopefully if they do that it will be much LONGER!!!!!!

I love that ride!

I heard that the whole building is inflatable.
Yep. Its held down with just a half dozen wing nuts and can be floated anywhere in a matter of hours.

No need to keep it around Epcot. Heck, we've all seen it already...

but the French, they like ANYTHING American. I understand the French would be ESPECIALLY interested in a travelogue of California. Something about how much they envy our countryside.

And since I typed the above statements while speaking with a British accent, you can be sure to take it "extra" seriously. :rotfl2:

Only if it were a really affected high London accent. You know -- really snooty sounding. I wouldn't believe you for a minute if it were something from Newcastle or Liverpool. Oxford and Cambridge accents might have me wondering.
