Is this True Re: MNSSHP

I was at MNSSHP tonight so I took special note of what was going on.

After 7pm, they had a crowd control measure setup that forced you to have a wristband. If you were on main street, you had to have a wristband to get to any of the lands of MK. If you were in a land and trying to pass through a checkpoint to another land, you were directed towards the exit. I actually saw a CM along the parade route asking for wristbands to people waiting for the parade. Two guys didn't have it so he said "sorry folks the park closed at 7, you need to exit the park." They sort of got up and tried to walk towards tomorrowland and the CM said "you're going the wrong way, the exit is that way" and literally followed them half way down main street.

I also wanted to point out that even without my experience tonight, I don't see any evidence of CM cutbacks during the parties. I walk into MK every night for my breaks and I see loads of CMs basically standing around for crowd control purposes(not all of them are PAC, I'm talking about when the party starts). They are well staffed all around. Tonight just confirmed it because they were very strict about people having wristbands to be in the park.

Are you sure they weren't talking about Halloween Horror Nights at Universal? That's what they do when you use the Stay & Scream option. They corral you in a certain area of the park and let the crowd out.

I went to my 1st MNSSHP in 2006, then back again in 2007 and then MVMCP in 2008. We always arrived early (between 4-5 ) and we were never corralled. We've always been asked to see our wrists so they could check for the bands. When a cast member didn't see a wrist band they would be very nice to the guests and they would tell them they had to turn around and head towards the exit.

They used to coral you at Disney parties, I went to Pirate and Princess and a Mickey's Very Merry where they had us in Tomorrowland while they cleared out other guests. Seems they don't do that anymore though, they just watch for guests without wristbands and direct them to the exit.

Hmph. So, ostensibly, even if you don't have a ticket, you could stay in the park and take in the atmosphere and/or eat dinner/shop?

We had an ADR at Crystal Palace on a party night and were escorted as far as Casey's Corner and told to find our way out. We were also told since we didn't have arm bands we couldn't shop on our way out.:headache:We HD planned on thY beo g our last stop before heading home the next day.

The reason they do not let you shop is that they put out special MNSSHP merchandise that is there for the party only and cannot be purchased if you don't have a party ticket.

We knew this and had hoped to get A couple of things . We had been to the party 2 years before..... Just wanted the OP to know they do enforce the use of wristbands and do escort people out. We had no problem with it but were just disapoonted the dgd didn't get her Mickey pumpkin.. no worries she will get one this year!!!!

thanks for sharing, and this is very good to hear and only fair to those that have paid the price for this event.

Yes, unlike some guests who ask if my boat goes to Citywalk, I know where I was at and it was not universal.:rotfl:

I didn't say they corralled us. People with wristbands were free to move around the park. But what they did is setup a barricade at each land thoughtout the park that would force the crowd through a very small exit/entrance into another land. By doing that, they were able to make sure absolutely everyone was checked for a wristband and if you didn't have it, you were asked to leave.

I wasn't trying to suggest that, as a non-ticketed guest to MNSSHP, we'd be trying to take advantage of CMs not escorting guests out of the park. I understand that folks pay a high premium to attend the event, and I wouldn't want to cheap my way into seeing the parade or any shows. Having said this, it is nice to know that you can plan to eat dinner close to 7pm and not worry about rushing through things. In a way, I'm glad that CMs are enforcing the rules with checkpoints, etc. If they weren't, it would be awful easy for guests to view the parade, shows with no ticket. Perhaps this is what it was like a few years ago??

I was referring to the OP who was talking about what they heard on a podcast. Not your post. i was wondering if the podcast was talking about HHN and not MNSSHP.

This podcaster is a really nice guy amongst a group of guys and it is not the one that rhymes with lemonjello. He could have been talking about a MNSSHP that happened quite a few years ago and maybe this was Disney's procedure for a few parties or a season just to see how things went. I just wanted to make sure they weren't still doing that because if so, what's the point of getting there early? We are going to spend the morning in the AK, then head back to the house, swim for a bit, give the kids some down time, then I hope to be back at the MK by at least 5:00 to 5:30. A little early, but not directly at 4:00 p.m.

I am really looking forward to this trip. It's been quite some time since we've been there.
