On the day we go to animal kingdom I wanted to have boma for breakfast, Sanaa for lunch and jiko for dinner. Is this to much going back and forth between the parks and restaurants? I have no idea how long it takes to get from the park to the lodge. Thanks

It would be a lot of back and forth and also a lot of food, I think I would do a late breakfast, skip lunch and an earlier dinner

Too much travel? Probably not. Too much food? Definitely!
As for travel, I assume that you will begin your day at the Lodge for breakfast, and end your day at the Lodge for dinner. So the only back-and-forth travel is to get to, and return from lunch. How worthwhile that is depends on where in the park you are around lunch time. If you are toward the front, then getting to the Lodge is not that big a deal. But if you are out near the KS ride, or EE, then you have quite a trek back and forth. But with two sit down meals in the bag (breakfast and dinner), I think that a snack type lunch, or a lighter lunch may be more of what you need. And for that, you are better off staying in the park.

IMHO I would not schedule all three on the same date. I would probably do BOMA for breakfast and Jildo for dinner and something light for lunch. But, it doesn't take a long time to go from the park to the lodge, probably less than 30 minutes, depending on how you catch the buses.

I suggest eating at the park for a light lunch.

AK is not open at night. If this is your only day for AK I would cut one of those meals (lunch). Our AK touring plan is determined by the shows we wish to see and planning the rest of the day around the show times we have picked. I wouldn't want to spend a few of the hours it's open eating food. Just my opinion, though. Good luck and happy planning!:thumbsup2

I agree that three table service meals would be too much. Also, when we were there in December, we left with an hour to spare to get from AK to Boma atAKL. It took every bit of that hour to get there since we had to wait for the bus to AKL for nearly 45 minutes! Just allow plenty of time.

I'd like to add that with this plan, you will have very little park time. You will spend all day going to and coming from your various dining choices. I agree with the pp -- late breakfast, early dinner.

Not necessarily. If the OP wakes up and STARTS at the Lodge, then it would only be one extra round trip.

1. Wake up and have breakfast at Lodge. No travel required.
2. Go to AK. (Going to do this no matter what).
3. Return to Lodge for lunch. (Extra travel here).
4. Go back to AK after lunch. (Extra travel here).
5. Return to Lodge after park closes for dinner. (Going to do this no matter what.)

Thanks, I figured going to all three would be a bad idea I'll try to do lunch at Sanaa another day.

Honnestly, it may be a bit too much. How about doing an early breakfast at Tuskerhouse, maybe a CS or Yak and Yeti for lunch, and end the day with a dinner at Sanna or Jiko? It will probably take about 15 minutes from AKL to AK, but that is if the bus is waiting for you. If your lunch takes about an hour, you may add up to two hours in travel time. It's doable, but a lot of back and forth.

Are you staying at AKL? If you are, I can so see doing it, but if you are not, then I wouldn't. You are going to have to take a bus from your resort to a park, and then transfer to AKL. You will have to do the same thing to get back to resort after eating a Jiko at night.

Its hard for someone else to tell you what would be too much for you and your family. Personally, that would not be too much food for me, I could easily eat 3 TS meals in a day. I would not want to leave the park though to eat lunch.
