Ok... I have been reading these boards for a few years now and have benefited immensely from the collective wisdom of all the DISers.
As a Kiwi family we only get to DL every few years so there probably isn't much I can contribute, compared to those of you who have APs and visit every few months!
HOWEVER, on our just-ended Halloween trip, we discovered a very random little tip that I haven't read anywhere on the boards and thought I would pass on..
The Background:
Splash Mountain is our family favourite (DH and the DS's love Screaming and TOT but I am a bit of a 'fraidy cat, so Splash is our favourite "total family" ride..) and during our holiday we must have ridden it almost a dozen times (we had a 14 days pass - of which we used 10 days at DL and DCA - I know, - 10 days??!!)
On our second-to-last day we rode it with the four of us, plus another large-ish couple seated in the back of the boat behind us. We are not exactly lightweights either and the combined weight of the 6 of us meant we got absolutely drenched - I mean, my jeans were sopping all over. We had never got this wet before in all our times on Splash - after laughing hysterically at the sight of our kids looking like drowned rats, we hauled our drippy selves down to the docks to wait in the sun for the Mark Twain.
Getting a spot in the sun to dry off was key, so we headed up to the top deck of the boat and there we found one of the ships's big black funnels is actually incredibly warm - almost hot, in fact - so by standing up against it as we sailed around the Rivers of America, we were able to substantially dry off our soaking wet clothes! I'm sure we looked a little odd huddled up against this steam funnel but I was getting dry, so I didn't care! It seemed to only be the right-hand funnel that was warm - perhaps the left hand one is decorative only?
But anyway, on a cool Fall day when you are soaking wet - head for the Mark Twain!
