I just read that the Minivan service is being discontinued. I hate the busses and loved taking the Minivan, especially when going to Disney Springs. I looked at my history today on Lyft and saw about 30 rides from the Minivans. Disney will never be the same.

I hope they bring them back when things are closer to normal. We planned on using the Minnie Van for the first time in June, and then we had to cancel due to the pandemic. I just really wanted to ride it at least once.

My wife really dislikes ride shares so we used the Minnie Vans a lot on our stays. I hope they bring them back. Being able to be dropped off at the MK bus stops was really nice.

Where did you read this? Disney came out three weeks ago and confirmed that Minnie Vans would be returning but didn't give a date. I don't think that means it's discontinued.

They will come back. Disney doesn't want folks that close together right now.

RUMOR: Minnie Van Service Retired at Walt Disney World, Cast Members and Vehicle Leases Being Terminated
It has been a tumultuous existence for the Minnie Van service at Walt Disney World, a point-to-point transportation option owned and operated by Disney that launched back in 2017. A pet-project of now-CEO Bob Chapek, Minnie Vans were Disney’s response to many of their guests choosing not to use the provided, complimentary (and honestly, often unreliable) transportation options Disney provides their guests and instead booking a Uber, Lyft, or similar transportation method to get around The Vacation Kingdom of the World. Minnie Vans were deemed overpriced by most guests, and they were also hard to get when you actually wanted them, like around park opening and closing times. After 3 years of hemorrhaging money, cast members believe the service is being brought to an end.

According to cast members, after having been furloughed since March and expecting that they would return to work soon, their leadership is now suddenly informing the drivers that they “should update their resumes”. Some cast will inevitably be transferred to other departments, but the belief amongst employees is that nearly 200 of them will be terminated.
Disney is claiming the termination of the service is for the safety of the drivers, but the drivers that reached out to us did not seem convinced of this based on the financial performance of the Minnie Vans outside of the premium airport transportation offering. Similar Lyft and Uber services have found ways to continue to operate throughout the pandemic.

The Minnie Van fleet was leased through an agreement with Disney corporate partner Chevrolet and will likely be returned to them soon.

AT D23 EXPO 2017, DISNEY PARKS CHAIRMAN BOB CHAPEK ANNOUNCES MINNIE VAN SERVICE COMING TO WALT DISNEY WORLD — An all-new Minnie Van service will provide a point-to-point transportation service at Walt Disney World Resort, giving guests an even more seamless resort vacation from start to finish.
Disney has yet to announce the layoffs or the termination of the Minnie Van service, but it seems likely given the reports from multiple cast members. We will certainly update you as any official information is disseminated.

This was posted on July 3rd.

July 4th ACTUAL Disney World posted on Twitter:

START YOUR ENGINES! Our transportation cast members are “gearing” up for the phased reopening of our resort transportation. We look forward to getting everything running!

You can see Minnie Van's in the picture - and the wording says "Minnie Van service and Watercraft stay tuned for return dates"

So - No.

Would they go to the trouble of putting them in the picture and also in the wording if they were planning on discontinuing them? Also - the website that started this rumor is known for going off of unsubstantiated "tips" so I wouldn't sweat this.

There still arent boats going between OKW and Disney Springs - does that mean they're discontinued?

I think this is because A. there aren't a whole lot of guests staying on site which I'm guessing is the primary pool of business for the Minnie Van's and B. those Minnie Van's are staffed by Cast Members - I'm not sure they have brought everyone back full force so why would they pull CM's for this service when they don't have the demand?

The Minnie Vans are not leased; they're purchased. They are retiring the Traverses in favor of Suburbans; perhaps that's why the website that shall not be named posted this.

No. Not often. Sometimes. More often, complaints about Disney transportation are due to unreasonable expectations. I have no idea what the rest of the "article" claims. I stopped reading after this claim (from a site banned by DIS).

Cool. More misinforme.
