Is this strange or am I missing something?

Will make this short. Checking fares for SW in early May. Always plug in 2 people, look at list of flights with prices. Flight I want is now $140. Tonight just happen to put 1 person, look at same list of flights with prices & the same flight is $104. I tried it 4 times & it does it everytime. Am I missing something??? So should I book DH first then go back & book myself to save the money?? instead of booking it together. SW is makin me nuts lately. Maybe I'm tired but WHAT DIFFERENCE DOES IT MAKE????

They only have so many seats at a certain rate, Of course if they only have 1 at $104 they are going to charge the higher rate for 2. I would book 1 at a time and if it changes again rebook.

There are a limited amount of seats in each "fare bucket" or price bracket. When you make a reservation the system books everyone in the same price bracket. If there is not enough availability in the lowest bracket for your entire party it will book your entire party in a higher bracket with availability for everyone.

It makes NO DIFFERENCE whether or not you and your husband are on the same reservation. In fact when I make a reservation for 2+ people I always call the airline to have them split up the reservation as it is easier to get upgrades that way.

All airlines do this, not just Southwest. Go ahead and book your husband, but when you book your ticket afterwards it will most likely cost $140.
