I need some information departing from MCO. Even though we do this every year I can't seem to recall where to go on the return trip home. I guess I'm on autopilot so I don't pay attention. DSIL is flying SWA and using DME. She will check her luggage in at the resort. I want to give her simple directions from DME drop off at MCO, thru security, and to her gate (which she will get once at the airport). Does she?

-DME drop off: take escalator or elevator to 3rd floor (If this, which way does she walk to get to security)
-Go thru security
-Take Tram to Airside
-Find her gate

She is flying alone and has never gone thru MCO. Thanks for your help!

She will arrive on the B side of the airport. She will go up to level 3. Turn right and head the security line for gates 100-129 which is where SWA is located. When she is standing in the middle of the big lobby area on level 3 there will be a big board listing all the departures and she should see where her gate is.

Have you also instructed her on removing shoes, belts and everything from her pockets in order to get through security?

Have you also told her how to find the DME when she arrives. Her departure is just everything in reverse of what she does when she arrives.

Thanks Shelly! So, no tram needed like when we arrive in Orlando? See, we go every year and know it should be the reverse going home but I can't remember if we had to tram it to the airside.

We are arriving together so that won't be an issue. She is leaving before us and will be traveling alone. I wanted to make sure she did not have a problem finding her way thru MCO alone.

Actually, she will arrive on Side A. When she gets on DME, the driver will ask what airlines people are on, then he/she will make an announcement when they reach the airport as to which airlines are served by that 'side'. SW is on Side A. Get off the bus, up the escalator and follow the signs to security. At security, remove belts, shoes, jackets, laptops and move through. Go to the tram and head to the appropriate gate.
The signage at MCO is very good. She may get turned around a bit, but it's easily remedied.

Thanks a bunch goofy4tink! I am good then:

DME
Up escalator
Go thru security (take it all off!)
Tram to Airside
Walk to appropriate Gate

Perfect...well, maybe not 'all off' though!! :lmao:

:rotfl: That was funny

Shelly F thanks so very much for posting the MCO map I haven't been on a plane in over 5 yrs and will be flying SWA so that helps with MY stress

IIRC, the only reason it matters which side you get off DME is if you have to check bags. If she's travelling w/carry ons only by that point, simply get off the bus at the first stop.

Both A & B sides lead to the atrium, so the only difference is if you have to go to your airline's counter (or kiosk) to check bags or get boarding passes.

Thanks. :goodvibes DSIL will check her bags at the resort the morning of departure so she can go directly to security.
