Nothing on the internet is private. Nothing.
And there is a lot of information about you that has NEVER been private, the Internet makes it a lot easier to access.
Sales people buy cross directories from Haines, they've been around for 50 years. They search public records and very likely have your name, address, phone number and number of people in your household listed.
If you vote, your party affiliation is public record.
If you got a traffic ticket, it is public record.
If you volunteered for a youth group, a criminal background check likely was done on you, and that is public record.
If you have been divorced, had to probate an estate, owned property, it's public record.
If you have children in public school, all your information is public record.
Don't believe me? Google your name. Or google your address. Or google your phone number. Or if you really want to be freaked out, google your name and click the IMAGES option. I did, and a picture someone I barely know took came up, they posted it on a Photobucket account.
My husband knows I spend a lot of time on the DIS--I tell him stories about some of the threads and we always post on the meet threads for our cruises--it is what started me on the DIS addiction
He knows my user name because I figured i would keep it consistent when we started a youtube account (even though we no longer lived in NH when we started that one
) I don't think he is interested enough in the DIS to ever bother reading here.
I told them to stop posting under my name and get their own
Made me think of some of the "my friend hijacked my account that wasn't ME with the totally inconsistent story" threads we see here
), so I would about fall over if I saw him looking at the board.
Hi, honey!!
