Is this realistic?

I wanted to wish everyone a Happy New Year last night too but I was so tired yesterday and was out like a light by 10pm last night.

So, Happy New Year to you all. pixiedust:pixiedust:pixiedust:

I got up early yesterday and went to the gym. It was a struggle but I talked myself out of bed and to the gym. It was 14' when I left, so it was hard to get out there. I got to the gym and I just couldn't get into it. My body wouldn't loosen up. I ended up only doing 1.7 miles.

I did AgilityX today. I'm not sure how I feel about these X3 workouts yet. They are so different. They are stretching me out, so that is good.

I don't know if 3500 calories is attainable. I'm only at 1900ish right now and just 2 days left. So we'll see. I feel like I am talking to myself lately. Is anyone else out there? :cool1:

I'm here and reading. I'm kind of just hunkering down until reality hits on Monday. Lots of stuff going on currently that is very stressful for me. But I'm refilling my frig with good foods and getting prepared. I know I'm up weight wise and although I haven't officially gotten on the scale I think it's around four lbs. oh well. A fresh start on Monday will take care of that. My husband has been putting up drywall to create an workout room vs just having a space. Hope everyone is doing ok. It's a tough time of year.

StayCool- Glad to hear from you. Drywall going up, now that is commitment.

Today was Yoga for me. I only got through 10 minutes of the 30 minutes. It kills me every time. I am so sore from just 10 minutes. My legs, back, butt, they all hurt. I hope to get through at least 1/2 the next time I do it. So, I didn't make it to the gym after work as I decided not to push it. It means no chance of hitting my 3500 calorie burned goal, which bums me out.

I will be back tomorrow with my update. Hopefully everyone has a great day.

I've been a slug. I am so off my schedule! I can't wait until Monday when The kids are back in school and I'm back on a regular schedule. I've decided I'm most likely not doing the 2016 marathon but not because of the running - it's the timing. Our winter break ends on the monday and the races start on the thursday. That would mean we'd have to do the parks first and the girls would miss a week plus a day of school which in the past I wouldn't have minded but my oldest will be in high school and that will be the first week of a new semester with new classes and I don't think that's fair to her. The princess half in feb may be a better option but part of me is also leaning towards spring break - if I could swing it financially I'd like to go this summer or stick with my original plan and go in October. Either way I still want to start running and there's lots of races here to keep me busy.

I'm maintaining slug status today! I have also has a cold since December 12th and I'm so over it. I have never had one last more than a few days except once last year and I'm not liking the new trend. My dh has one too which probably isn't helping.

We're putting away all our Christmas stuff today :). We are having people over tonight and tomorrow we have a lunch and play date scheduled with friends and their kids. Then Monday its back to walking my daughter to daycare and aquafit! Can't wait.

Hey - I'm back ;)

I'm usually offline when I'm with the family. I only bring my iPad and phone with me, and we're usually doing things. Christmas with the family on the 28th was great, but my 12 year old niece keeps growing. She'll be taller than me (I'm really tiny) within the year. The boys are growing, too, but I've got years before even the 10 year old comes close to my height.

Had a small problem - I took the 7 year old flying on the trapeze, and injured myself pretty good. Or rather, the guy who caught me out of mid-air when I threw a bad trick, injured me. He only got my left hand, and hauled me through the air through the points in the swing that have the highest gravity pull. A week later and I'm still in pain. Does not bode well for the run next weekend, but I'll just do a run/walk that's more walk than run.

Waiting2goback - Glad to hear you're getting back into exercise and eating well. 3500 is a lot of calories to burn - I'm not sure I can get there except during my longest runs. It's frustrating, but it is another sign of your increased fitness. Competitor.com is holding (that's a loose phrase, more like they talked about it online) a habit-forming challenge that includes 30 minutes of intense activity a day for the month of January. I couldn't make it - long travel day yesterday sort of killed that, unless you count walking through airports, which I don't. I am considering doing my own version of the 30 day challenge starting on Monday though.

I'm still hanging in there. So ready to restart tomorrow. The last few weeks have been so stressful and stress usually sends me off plan. Hopefully I've got it all under control now and keep my head on straight. Can't wait to get back to Zumba. My husband is still working on the workout space which kind of sucks. I had planned to start using the treadmill again this week. His heart is in the right place but erf.

Dizzy, Don't be so hard on yourself. The negative self-talk will only feed into your situation. Start focusing on the positive and just start the balling rolling and move a little more each day. Eventually you will be back in the swing of things. It's probably good you decided not to do the Marathon as you have a year to get ready and it is a HUGE task to take on for your first major race. You'll get there though.

Glad you had a good time with your family. Sorry you got injured. Hopefully you can still have a good time at WDW and put together a decent race for yourself. I am pulling for you as I am living vicariously (?spelling) through you. I am so wishing I could be running this weekend.

I am torn. I so badly want to meet all the goals I set for myself during my marathon. But, I didn't realize how hard it would be now that I am in better shape. So, you are right, my increased fitness is making it more difficult to meet this goal. Now I am trying to convince myself to take things less seriously and just try to exercise 5 days a week and maintain my current level of fitness until I can get back outside. My eating has been much better. So, we'll see. I will just do my best and try to make improvements as I can for now.

One of my other goals, I think I mentioned before, is to begin studying for my CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) test. It is a very hard test and will take 3 years to do if I pass each test the first time. But, I love this type of work and once I do it, it will allow me to provide a nice life for the kids. My point is, the books arrived today and now I throw that on top of work and training.

The good news is you seem to be itching to get back to exercise. That's a great sign. As someone who runs on the treadmill in a workout like space (the gym) don't rush into it. Its less than exciting. :yay::yay:

Well last night I made it back to zumba. It felt good but I am a little sore today. I think right now all I can manage right now is zumba so I'm going to stick with it 2-3 times a week until I get more motivation. I weighed in today for the first time in a couple weeks and fully expected to be up. I have been eating horribly. Instead I was down 0.4 lbs. I will take it even though I don't get it. Here's to a fresh start!

My 12 year old is almost as tall as me too - she teases me that she has to get stuff on the top shelf for me. Brat! LOL

That sucks about the injury - hopefully it doesn't end up being anything too serious and it heels in time for the run (which by the way I've very jealous about!)

I hope the stress level goes down for you soon. My husband is like that - he won't do anything if it's not done "right" so he tends to take more time than most people and if he stops midway it's ages before he gets back to it.

I'm no longer a slug! I went to an awesome aquafit class last night - it was so good to be back at it. I also walked the river before the class for a half hour so it was a good workout all around. I was back at the pool for 6:30 this morning so I feel like I'm back on track. I also brought my lunch yesterday and today (dinner salads) so that's a big improvement. Yeah for January!

That's great about the CFA! Good for you. I got halfway through the CGA (Certified General Accountant) program and then quit because I had the girls and two jobs so was super busy but part of me still regrets it. I'm not entirely sure it would have changed my jobs that much because I've basically been working as a CGA for the last 10 years but it certainly would have changed my earning potential.

Don't be too hard on yourself about not meeting the goals from the marathon - I'm not saying give yourself a pass because me being hard on myself is my biggest motivator but you are still doing great so don't lose sight of that.

I went back to aquafit last night too! It felt great to be back at it. I was going to do another class this morning but my friend and I hadn't seen each other in awhile and were looking forward to catching up so we walked the river (which depending on the speed of the current and who's teaching aquafit is sometimes harder than the class!) for an hour and I was feeling it after. I am doing another class tomorrow night and then Thursday morning so I'm ok with the river once a week in lieu of a class. One of my goals for January is to go to one of the step or zumba classes so I need to look at the schedule and see what works.

I was up 1.6 lbs so good for you for being down!

I feel like I have monopolized the thread this morning since I replied individually to each post sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo you all need to listen to me ramble LOL!!!

My only thought for the day is I WANT TO GO TO DISNEY RIGHT NOW!!!

please resume regular programming!

Dizzy, will you tell me more about aquafit? They have a class locally but I really don't know what it is.

I am lucky that I have spent so many years building up the shoulder stabilizers and that I have a rockstar chiropractor. Spend Tues-Mon of the past week doing all the post-injury things, ice and anti-innflamatories, then heat, etc.. and on Monday evening at my standing appointment, he did some testing and slipped the shoulder back into the socket and reset my clavicles and most of the intense pain has subsided. Now it's just soreness as the muscles get used to being back in the right alignment. That bodes well for long term issues, but may still be challenging for the run. He doesn't want me to do any rehab exercises until the end of this week. My expectations for the race were pretty low, and are even lower because it looks like Sunday is going to be in the high 70s! Ack. I'm just going to have fun. I'll worry about PRs in the spring and fall!

About your calorie goals - I looked up my stats on Map My Run. In order to meet your goal, I'd have to run 30+ miles a week. I have no idea what I burn doing my trapeze workouts, but the bottom line is that that's a LOT of work when you're not actively training for something. I could do it, but it would take more of my time than I generally have to devote to working out. I think the better goal would be more calories out per week than taken in - balance your exercise with your eating.

The CFA program looks tough, but well worth the effort. I don't suppose there's a way to get the books in audio form so you could listen while you work out? I know you'd need to do more to study, but sometimes having listenend to something first, I key on things when I'm reading.

Dizzy and Stay Cool - awesome! I'm glad you guys are feeling more into the swing of things. I think that switching things up and walking in addition to Aquafit is a great idea. BTW, I did a version of Aquafit about 15 years ago rehabbing from Runner's Knee and it was sometimes harder than my old running workouts. If you're still thinking of running races, you could also buy a waist belt and try water running if you can get to a pool during open swim periods. It's supposed to be really good for rehab, but I imagine it's a great way to stay in running shape when the weather is bad.

And finally, because a friend posted a link to this yesterday - this Cirque performer's 3-5 hour workout program is why I will never be good enough to perform at any real level. And this is the workout he does AFTER 1-2 shows a day.

I am considering a change to my goals. I have been watching more of my buddy Tony Horton on YouTube again and he always makes so much sense. He did a piece on New Year's Resolutions and while I didn't have one this year it made me rethink my goals. More below because I think Chiomaca said something similar so I'll comment to you both then.

My only thought for the day is I WANT TO GO TO DISNEY RIGHT NOW!!!

YEP. ME TOO! I am jealous and I am getting a bit bummed out I am not going. I so wish I was running this weekend.

I have decided to relax my goals. I am currently pretty healthy, based on my physical a couple weeks back. So, the number on the scale doesn't matter for any other reason than my own mind. So, do I need to kill myself to get under 200 lbs by April? Nope. I am trying to convince myself to give up the goals and just do the workouts for fun and just keep eating well and let the weight take care of itself.

No workout for me the last couple of days. I can't remember if I mentioned my sons medical issues but he has been complaining of pain in his bladder area so he may have another UTI. I was at the ER last night trying to get his urine tested for an infection. He still has a fever today so he was home from school with me this morning before work. But I have been eating well and I will get back at it once he is doing better. He has an appointment in Boston tomorrow.

I think I had more to say but can't remember so you guys get off easy tonight. Chiomaca, not sure when you're leaving but just in case I wish you luck and hope you have a good time this weekend. Don't overdo it. And, I will go watch your link as soon as I post this.

Here is the link, it wouldn't let me do it in the other post I was trying to do.

Chiomaca- was the link to a video or a written out workout because I got a written out program?

Here is a link I came across today while watching Tony on YouTube. Not trying to convince people to buy anything but I found it motivating so I thought some of you might.
